We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamsi Ede and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kamsi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been crocheting since I was in high school, and I love crocheting plushies, specifically! In 2023, I was laid off from my job, and started working part time at Joann Fabrics (RIP). During my time there, I began experimenting with different patterns, and yarns, I didn’t know what to do with all my plushie makes! That’s when I decided to start doing markets as a way to get rid of some stuff, but also share my joy with everyone else!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe anyone can crochet. It is a very accessible art form, and I encourage everyone to try it at least once! But because of the growing popularity of crochet and other fiber arts, it is easy to fall in line with trends, since we all have access to the same patterns. When I first started out, I noticed a lot of crochet artists would have the same plushies at their tables. In an attempt to differentiate myself, I niched down even more. I always made spooky, or nerdy plushies for spooky or nerdy people. But I had to take the extra step in looking for unique patterns, or even try my hand at creating my own patterns that I know no one will have access to.
Pattern making is a whole monster that took a while to get down. But once you are able to understand how to create the shapes you want from yarn, it is a wonderful experience that results in a unique piece!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely have to check out the best ramen shop ever! Umaido in Suwanee!
We would also have to hit up the Tucker Goat Farm and do a Goat Hike!
Georgia Aquarium is always a fun and relaxing time. I could sit in that big fish room for hours!
We could also hit up Ponce City Market or walk the Beltline

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be doing markets or putting myself out there without the support of my partner, my family, and my friends! Thank you all for encouraging me to go for it! And a special thanks to my partner for sticking by my side through all the markets we go to!
