We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamilah (Kami-Tee) Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kamilah (Kami-Tee), what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is knowing that I am working to provide a more secure future for my children. Throughout my life I’ve experienced being abandoned, raped , abused , homlessness, as well and coming close to loosing my life. When I became a mother at the age of 18 I swore that my children will never have to experience the hurt, and pain that I felt. That determination drives me to go harder everyday and never wanting to quit.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I like to call myself the queen of many trades. When I moved to Atlanta in 2012 I came here wanting to start a new life for me and my children. Running from an abusive relationship I my only concern was safety. After settling down and finally getting my life in order I ended up in the independent artist scene just attending showcases listening to various artist pour their hearts out on stage, At the time my cousin was pursuing his rap career, I ended up growing a connection with his management company and they offered me a position with the radio company. That position lead me to an A&R for another management company. This company offered me the opportunity to express myself on the radio as well as search for artist that were true to their craft. I gained relationships that many desired , my loyalty and honesty spoke volumes. This led me to running an Atl chapter of a company called the Collective Agency along side Manny Maddogg. My personality was growing more and more and I craved more , this led me to wanting to know more about artist and getting into their minds. This desire led me to having various podcast shows as well as radio shows., I currently have a show with All Access Jay on K100 radio, Strong Box radio, Wkdt 420 lit radio, as well as Cx1 radio, I also have a podcast on 1057thephaze. All of this took hard work dedication, tough skin, loyalty, and positive energy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of the places that we would go to eat would first be Maggiano’s, Ruth Chris, The Wing Shack, All Island Cafe, anything else I can definitely cook. Being that mu friends and I love R&B music we definitely have to go to Zari on Monday night with Carrie Qt Ent and Sir Black for R&B Mondays a guaranteed good time. During the week we can check out the Georgia Aquarium, The Cocoa Cola Factory, get some spiritual healing from Ye Ye Botanica, and end the week on Saturday at Monaco Hookah Lounge

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Any accomplishment that I have achieved in the music industry actually goes to the artist first and foremost , I share a spiritual bond with most of them and our loyalty speaks volumes. My mentors that have shown me the dark side of the game, and how to always stay above it. My friends and family that are close to me that have always stayed in my corner.
