We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalika Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kalika, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Seeing the smiles and joy from others makes me happy. I know we should never do things in life for others and find our own joy in life, but when do something and I can make someone’s day better and they smile, it really makes my heart soar.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am in a lot of creative fields, I just really love picking up on new skills and talents. I’m a seamstress, streamer, artist, photographer, voice actor, singer, etc. and through a lot of hard work and consistent pushing, I feel like I’m in a good place. It wasn’t easy, especially being a black, plus-size, queer, disabled, black woman in the space I work in . I’ve had to teach myself that I am worthy of my success and I can do just as much as my peers. I pride myself in motivating others like me that they can do anything they dream of, as long as they keep pushing and working hard.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I live in Las Vegas so theres always a bunch of touristy things to do here. Along with doing those things (on the strip) I would take them to my favorite barkeries (85C Bakery) and favorite KBBQ (Gen), then go where they may like. I don’t travel alot outside of my own home, but there are places I like to eat.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a VAST amount of my success to my mom and my husband. My mother always motivated me and cheered me on no matter what, she taught me to keep going and keep doing my best even when I get knocked down. She encouraged me even when my family or other people just kept laughing at my failures or telling me that my dreams weren’t important. It almost felt like she passed that baton to my husband because when I got married he continued to encourage me, pay for, and even help me get more and more of my dreams reached.
