Meet Kaleigh Mitchell | Artist & Animator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaleigh Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaleigh, what makes you happy? Why?
Creating and making art is one of the things that make me happy! The reason why is because I like how I can do so many different things with art. From making my own characters, redrawing others creations into my own style, traditional art, and so much more. It’s also uplifting to be inspired other artists and for me to be inspired by them as well- big and small.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art and its style has changed a bit over time. When I first started my style was a lot more like anime- now it’s still anime inspired but also with realism incorporated with it as well. I’m still growing and learning new skills with my art along with improving on the skills I already have. I’ve learned that art takes a lot of time when you really want it to be the way you want, but once you’ve got it, it’s worth it. Though i’ve also learned that your art won’t always come out the way you wanted it to- and that’s okay. It shows that art isn’t about making a perfect piece every time but continuing and learning in the process of it. Galatians 6:9 is a good inspiration to this as well!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d probably go hang out at Piedmont Park first! The views there are beautiful and walks can be very calming. After we would probably find some more interactive places though like escape rooms, the Museum of Illusions, & Tea Around Town. For food we’d go to Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, Insomnia cookies, and Buffalo Bar.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely a shout out to my parents and artists I watched online growing up. My parents always have encouraged me to keep pursuing what I was interested in. I’m very grateful for them and their support not just with my interests, but throughout all parts of my life as well. Artists & animators I watched online as a kid like Nirami, Cudlil, CocoTheMunchkin, Yeager, and a lot more inspired me to start doing art more- along with posting it on YouTube. I’m very thankful for all of them, and they still inspire me today to keep pursuing my dreams.
