We had the good fortune of connecting with Kajun D and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kajun, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Walking by faith and not by sight. I actually spoke all of this into existence not actually knowing what I was speaking. I spoke getting my mom & I gumbo to Boosie for about a year. Had a dream I got it to him and a week later it happened. Boosie made an instagram post asking for gumbo in Atl. Something inside of me said this was my opportunity.I sent him pictures of my work and he asked for a pot. I was able to deliver my pot to his home and got good content. He loved the Gumbo . My business started a few months after this.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brand Kajungumbo is to introduce the world on how I’ve ate my entire life. All my New Orleans dishes are traditional dishes with a twist . This twist is what makes me different from all the other people offering these dishes. My food is gourmet and premium quality. Made with favor , Not just flavor!!!
Actually it was very easy to start this business. God started me off on top.
The most challenging thing about business is being consistent. Consistency is key with your work ethic & your product.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Mexican. It’s literally my fave place to hang out at . Good food and drinks it’s never a miss.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mom. She is the inspiration behind my entire business. My mom has introduced me to her recipes my entire life. She has a unique twist on all off the traditional New Orleans dishes. She is the best cook in the world . Her faith is what has carried my business.
