Meet Kaitlyn Bryant | Nurse Injector and Co-Owner of Pele Aesthetics

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlyn, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always loved art, everything about it. The colors, the shapes, the different mediums, and the many variations that art comes in. Art is one of the only ways you can see someone else’s perception of the world. Everything in life is art and people are no exception. From a young age I loved to paint, draw, make pottery, and go to art exhibits. I also knew from a young age I loved to help people and felt my best when making someone else feel good. Aesthetics gave me the opportunity to combine my two loves, art and nursing. I love sitting down with a client, focusing on the features they love and sculpting the features they desire to change. It very emotional to see someone grow up hating their nose, chin, etc and being able to take your artistic skill and balance those features.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Pele apart from other med spas is our goal of inclusivity and not fitting everyone into one idea of a beauty standard. We are most proud of our services and how they are safe for every skin tone and ethnicity. We dedicated hours of research to ensure each laser, procedure, and product is safe for skin tones that fall in the Fitzpatrick scale of one through six. We also are a trilingual group and can accommodate for clients that speak Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Starting a business was not easy. There were so many nights, weekends, and hours put into the foundation of what is now, Pele. We truly overcame every hurdle from finances, securing a building, and moving through the legalities of opening a medspa by sitting down and talking. I know that sounds cliché, but truly every night we would spend 4 to 6 hours on the phone with each other, working through every issue and roadblocks that we ran into. We would read articles, call attorneys, and cry on each other’s shoulders through the process. The lesson I’ve learned along the way is to speak on what frustrates you and worries you, it builds better relationships with those around you. It’s extremely difficult to be vulnerable especially in an entrepreneurial role, but I feel like it has got me farther to be vulnerable and honest, then to suppress feelings that will eventually cause turmoil within a practice. I want to tell everyone about Pele and why it’s so special to me and my business partners but if I have to narrow it down to one thing, it is that you are important to us, you will always be at the center of our mind and attention when you are at Pele, your satisfaction and safety is at the base of why we do what we do. We want everyone from every walk of life to feel welcome.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question as someone who’s lived all over the city, I can say that each area has its own charm and there’s so much to do! I would plan each night in a different area of the city so they can get the full experience of what Atlanta is.
Southside- if you were looking for somewhere to spend an afternoon with a group of friends at one of the best dive bars, you have to check out hammers good time emporium for volleyball, bar food, and drinks! Then you would finish your night playing Pool at ideal.
West Midtown start the afternoon by going to LOA for a pool and lunch experience with stellar views, then walk over to Northside Tavern to get some drinks before heading into flight club for the remainder of the night.
EAV- we’d have to start the night at Gaja, the best Korean barbecue in the city! Then head head over to have drinks at flat iron or holy taco and just enjoy the atmosphere and nightlife that is EAV.
The Highlands- it’s an absolute given that you have to take someone to the Claremont lounge and let them see it at lunchtime! Then we could spend the evening dinner at Fellini’s and doing karaoke at Darkhorse or going to the roof of Ponce city market.
(my favorite restaurant in the Highlands closed – Babettes Cafe!)
Some other places that would have to be thrown into the week would be the west side reservoir park, the burgess hotel for drinks, Pit Boss for a random lunch, and a massage at heal thy self.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m a huge advocate for “you are who you surround yourself with”. I would be no where without the inspiration of those who surround and influence me to do better, be better, and challenge myself.
I’d first like to shout out Kevin Thomas Freiberg, a life long friend. We grew up creating art together, challenging each other to grow, and cheering each other on in our endeavors. Kevin is an extremely talented hair and make up artist here in Atlanta. He inspires me everyday to be better and do better.
Second, I’d like to shout out Aly Carvalho. My business partner, she is not only extremely driven, smart, and artistic, but an angel of a human. She has an eye for facial balancing and design. Everyday she challenges me to show up, learn more, and be the most innovative/ safe injectors possible.
