We had the good fortune of connecting with Kailey Hood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kailey, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
It is my desire to be a successful commentator for the ESPN network or having a segment on my own sports show.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Taking small steps allowed me to get where I am today, having interactions with others through networking was a big help for me. I received a lot of criticism about my predominantly male career path, I was also told by some people that I was inexperienced and unknowledgeable about the sports game. I learned to turn the negatives into positives. I would like to let all of my young athletes to remember that big dreams start small!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Little Alley Steakhouse
Sivas in Midtown

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I thank God for giving me the strength the courage and the knowledge to do a great job. I would like to especially thank my mother for teaching me that doing your best is sometimes better than being the best and to always put God first you will never be last.
