Meet Kaelie Birkett | Entrepreneur & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaelie Birkett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaelie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always wanted to start my own business. The vision of starting my own business started in high school when I was in DECA. I was always inspired by entrepreneurs and small business owners. I worked for a small business during and after college. I really grew as a person during my first year out of college. While I loved what I was doing at my job, I was not feeling fulfilled. I dreamt about working for myself and I felt something really pulling me to go for it towards the end of 2022. I resigned from my full-time job, and now am working for myself! I started Kaelie Birkett Media with the desert in mind. The desert shows strength and grit which is portrayed through my branding. It takes a lot of strength to start a business and the uncertainty in doing so. I am pursuing a business focused on being who I truly am. I am excited to be my own boss and create awesome things. I really love trying new things, and starting my business will really allow me to do so.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Kaelie. I am the founder and owner of Kaelie Birkett Media, LLC. I offer a variety of services to build your small business’ online presence. My services include social media management, copywriting, blog writing, newsletters, and more. I started this business as a way to be my own creative. I graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Emerging Media. I previously worked for a local brewery as a social media manager and events coordinator. I have a drive to create quality digital marketing content to create brand awareness and attract new business. I have a passion for work life balance. I created Kaelie Birkett Media so I could live my own dream and not someone else’s,
I was looking for more to life and decided to start my own business. It did not take me long to figure out that life is too short to wait around to do what you truly love. In 2020 my family experienced a gut wrenching experience. During 2020 two of my family members were diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Yes….two….yes in 2020. It was supposed to be the year of my dreams, I was getting married, I was working on finishing my degree. I lost my job like many others in March of 2020 and I took on a role as a “caregiver.” I never knew what that term really meant until it was my life for 6 months. It really lit something inside of me….going through that. If none of that happened I wouldn’t be where I am today. How lucky am I to get to spend 6 months caring for a family member during the worst time in most of our lives. Those moments drove me to push myself to be better mentally and physically. I started my business to curate the life I want to live. I didn’t want to be stuck in the same place for another year or five.
Lessons I have learned along the way… people are not always who they say they are. Actions truly speak louder than words. If someone wants to be there or do something for you they will be there. Not all relationships are good relationships.
My brand is inspired by the desert like I said before. My husband and I met in 2017. We were long distance for almost 3 years. He was stationed in California during that time. We spent a lot of time together exploring the desert. We even got engaged in Anza Borrego Desert State Park on our last day in California. When I started my business I wanted to always remember that time in our lives. We were young (still are), and didn’t know what life would have in store for us. We were just young and in love exploring the desert! I want to always have that same spirit behind my business. Youthful, fun, and inspiring. Just like those days in the desert made me feel.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shoutout to my family and friends! They have all been nothing but supportive to me during this leap! I think they may think I am a little crazy, but you have to be a little crazy to start a business. I couldn’t have done it without their support both emotionally and physically. I wasn’t sure what the outcome would be when I started sharing with people that I was ready to leave my job.
I would also like to shoutout Woodstock Business Club, Acworth Business Association, and Kennesaw Business Association. All of them have been vital in navigating the entrepreneur life and surrounding myself with like-minded people.
