We had the good fortune of connecting with Kadaijah Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kadaijah, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is “Vision without execution is hallucination.” said ~Thomas Edison. This quote has inspired me to start my business and get out of my comfort zone and turn my dreams into reality. It’s one thing to have a dream see your vision and know your why, but if you can’t execute your vision it holds no value. Take the first step in the direction you want to go and build on that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Dolled By Kay is all about beauty! I am a self-taught makeup artist from Milwaukee, WI. I specialize in natural & soft glam makeup and lash extensions. I started Dolled By Kay in January 2019 to push my creative talents & ability to inspire others such as aspiring muas, women who lack self confidence and those who want to get familiar with makeup and overall making women feel beautiful and confident within themselves. After I graduated high school I knew I wanted to take my makeup career seriously and become a Pro MUA. In my free time I would practice new looks, create content for youtube and instagram, try different styles of makeup and gain product knowledge. My art is one of a kind, my personality alone sets me apart from other artists! I didn’t want to limit myself to one skill so I decided to become a lash tech late December 2019. I love doing lashes & makeup because I get to be creative while working and perfecting my craft through each client.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m all for a good time and positive vibes! If my friends were to visit we would go to brunch, shopping, self-care dates, dinner and hangout in the city. A few places I like to visit are Atlantic Station, Little Five Points and Ponce City Market. I love to shop so we would definitely go to Lenox or Perimeter mall, maybe even the outlets. Some of my favorite places to eat are Mojave, Milk & Honey, Louisiana Bistreaux Seafood Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, New Orleans Daiquiri Bar & Grill, 656 South, CRU & Capital Grille. In Atlanta there are a lot of interesting places to visit like Downtown Atlanta you’ll see different cars, houses, celebrities and there’s always an opportunity to network. Fun places I recommend going are Putt-shack, Axe-throwing, High Museum of Art, Atlanta Botanical Garden,The Roof at Ponce City Market, Skyline Park, Painted Pin and so much more!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I think of my success, I think of my mentor Marea Michele Founder of Beautiful Banyan Inventor of Gift-It-Cakes. I shared my vision and business ideas with her & with no hesitation we got to work. Any questions I had and I mean ANY, she’d answer with full explanation to make sure I understood the pro’s and con’s of running a business and providing great customer service to becoming a successful business owner. Not only did she give me business advice, but she allowed me to utilize a room in the basement and turn it into my beauty studio so I can build my platform. No matter how many times I wanted to give up because things got hard, she was there to assure me that my work is worth it and that all my hard work will pay off.
