Meet Kabrina and Alenna | Salon Owners and Pet Stylists

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kabrina and Alenna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kabrina and Alenna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Owning our own grooming salon has been a long time dream. When we got the opportunity, we ran with it. We were determined to provide a safe, clean and spacious space for all of the pets and stylists. The salon we purchased needed some serious TLC and we had limited time to get it all cleaned up and ready. After much hard work and determination we were able to turn this salon into our dream business. We couldn’t be happier!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are Pet Stylists, offering grooming services for dogs and cats. Ten years ago, we met while working at PetSmart, where we learned to groom at the Grooming Academy there. We connected through our love and passion for Grooming and animals, then the friendship took off from there. Over the years, we have gone through ups and downs while also growing so much in our career. Staying positive and determined has been what keeps us going and helps us to overcome challenges. If you know in your heart, you were meant to do something- don’t give up on it. We are always continuing education on Grooming techniques, safety and more, which has also helped us stay informed and motivated. Learning more and more along the way has been very beneficial and important to us. We strive to do the best we can while also giving your pet a positive and safe environment. We would like the world to know that we are passionate about what we do, and keeping that passion alive is what made it possible to get where we are now. Going through many hardships and obstacles along the way has made it tough, but we never gave up. We kept going and still are. Our love for grooming and working with animals will just continue to grow!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely take them around Little Five Points, there are many interesting shops and also a variety of places to eat and drink there. A great place to eat brunch is R. Thomas Deluxe Grill, they have great food and drinks as well as 3 birds who live outside of the restaurant that you can visit / pet. Other cool places include: Marietta Square, Ponce City Market and the Atlanta Beltline, Krog Street, the Georgia Aquarium and Ferris Wheel down town. Atlanta is full of areas that are fun and interesting to explore.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to dedicate our shout out to Rolando Mata, Kabrina’s dad. He has helped us through the process of buying and opening the salon, and has supported us through this journey! We couldn’t be more thankful and grateful for him.
