We had the good fortune of connecting with K.D.H. GLORY The Movement and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi K.D.H., why did you pursue a creative career?
A lot of jobs, people are basically coerced to do certain things, say certain things, act a certain way. You don’t necessarily get the space to be yourself fully…express yourself fully…do the work the way you want.
Being an artist/Being a creative is basically the complete opposite. Whether it’s writing a song about whatever topic you want, delivering it however you want. Same with poetry. Same with illustration. Same with painting. Etc etc. Art is about expressing yourself fully. You have the freedom of expression. And that is my preference. It’s not too too much thought going into what you’re doing. You don’t have to filter it. You just do it. You do what feels natural. Art always came naturally. Being creative always came naturally. All I wanna do when I wake up every day is do that as my “job”. Because it doesn’t really feel like work. It just feels like….life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m the leader of my group/label – GTM (GLORYTheMovement) . Our genre is mostly rap/hiphop/r&b. I started this group a decade ago, right before I graduated high school.
I’ve been doing this for a long time now. Every day I feel more and more like a vet. Every year we get better, sharper, more confident. I’m very proud of my entire team.
Right now, the team consists of Me (K.D.H.),
-My brother Paradise
-My brother OTWT Shawn
-My cousin Pawta
It’s been a long road. A LOT of discouraging times. A LOT of confusion and frustration about why this hasn’t taken off like we want it to yet. We know we’re talented. We know we’re unique. We know we have the work ethic (I make sure of it). We know we have what it takes. We just have to keep working, Stay consistent. Stay locked in. Network. Eliminate fear. And just go get everything we deserve. It’s not meant to be easy. It’s meant to be worth it.
I promise when we get to where we’re destined to be……. the music, the performances, the tours, the films, the interviews, the biopics, everything….all the risks and sacrifices will be worth it. This is most certainly a story worth telling. And I knowww, I know it’s destined to have the proper ending. Success is pending. We will make it happen.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Philly, so as far as ATL I’m not too sure. I personally only been down here 8 months now. BUT
Expect GTM to hit all the performance spots around the city! Hit us uppp.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Family.
-My Parents (Keith & Uranna)
-My Brothers (Kyree, Kevon, KeShawn, Khalil)
-My Group (GTM)
-My Daughter Lyric. Her Mother Amanda.
Family is why we work so hard.
Family motivates us.
Family supports us.
Family is our peace.
Family is Everything.
