We had the good fortune of connecting with Juston White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juston, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been a creative. Growing up I knew I didn’t want to work a regular job. My parents used to come home everyday exhausted, they both hated their jobs. I knew then that a regular lifestyle wasn’t for me. I tried sports up until 10th grade, but it ended up not working out for me. When the pandemic started, I started getting into producing and making beats. Everyday I was watching Southside, TM88, and Metro Boomin interviews. I started off making them on my phone, but I was young and working at the time, so one morning I literally woke up and went and bought a Macbook. I spent hours everyday learning FL Studio and sending beats to the rappers I lived around. When I got to college, two of my closest friends, Sean and Kaden, inspired me to buy a camera. I used to use their cameras so much that they persuaded me to get into photography. I ended up buying 3 cameras in 2 months and just started doing different projects on them. Since then, I’ve just been building my brand and gaining connections so I can continue to share my creativity through my lenses. As far as the clothing brand goes, I started it just off the love of clothes. I used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and made some simple mockup shirts and dropped them not too long after. They did well but the brand has been on pause since then because of how busy everything else is right now.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel like my art is genuine. I don’t want to be anyone, I want my own signature style. I want people to look at or hear something and know that it’s my work. When I sit down and make a fire beat, it makes me so happy that I just start recording my computer so I can post it and everyone can hear it. Same with pictures and photography, it just brings me so much joy. I’m so excited about where everything can potentially take me. The possibilities are endless.

The journey definitely wasn’t easy. The nights of self-doubt. The dry days. The days when your creativity is running low. They’re all there, but you have to beat it. If you let those kinds of things beat you, you’ll never get anywhere with your art. Being in the arts has taught me so much about myself and who I am. You have to stay focused and you have to know that you’re always going to get better as long as you try.

I just want the world to know that I really put everything into all of this. When it’s all said and done, I want to be known as one of the greats. Everything I create is straight from the heart and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think I would take them to Atlantic Station first, it’s just a chill hangout spot. We would probably go to Piedmont Park and Colony Square for a day too. They are near each other and there’s a fire taco spot in Colony Square. We would also have to do a day of shopping so of course we have to go to Lenox and some stores like Goodtimes and Full Circle. Lastly, we would go to the South Side and hang out with my family.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents deserve so much credit. They’ve always supported me through everything. My friends, college and home. Ari, Kaden, Jae, Sean, Alex. They are all creatives and we feed off each other. Even Morehouse and the city of Atlanta. Both have presented me with so many opportunities and I’m just so thankful.
