We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Louis Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin Louis, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to inspire people to live a life of faith. My goal is not to just be a creative, but a pastor, and I want to give people the tools necessary to walk in their story confidently and live a life of purpose whether that’s through working with them professionally or in a ministry setting. I want to travel the world and help other brands, businesses, churches, and young adults find identity, either through the content I create, or traveling and working with them in person. As a traveling pastor, I want to speak on the importance of creativity, and how it is a gift from God that can be used to transform people’s lives. I used to think that I had to choose between my creativity and my call to ministry, but I now understand that my creativity is a call to ministry. Whether I’m speaking, singing, or making content, I want my whole life to reflect Jesus.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a content creator, which I have two things to say about that: 1. I am glad there is finally some kind of title and clarity to what I do (I didn’t have the words to describe it for a long time), and 2. I actually feel confident enough to say it now. I have been creative my entire life. I remember putting on shows for my parents in our living room, dancing and singing for them. I took creative writing camps, and acting classes, and started songwriting at 12. I began singing at church, which I still do, and music is still a huge part of my journey and creative process. I got into storytelling through film initially in 2016 in high school, and then photography in 2019 by shooting at my church. Today, I focus on helping people tell their story through a wholistic approach that touches on visual art messaging, from pre to post-production. My services as a content creator include branding, social management, photography, video, graphic design, and copywriting. The cool thing about my job is that I also use these skills to grow my personal brand as well.

What sets me apart is the intentionality of the art I create. I create with the intention of creating experience and evoking emotion. My aim is that every photo, video, logo, and design are not just nice to look at, but help convey the overall identity of myself or the client, whether it’s a business or person, and brings the viewer into the story. Being a storyteller is not an easy job because there is a level of vulnerability that is required to inspire others, but it’s so worth it. To see lives changed and people’s hearts transformed is my life’s passion. Seeing the client become a confident storyteller and the viewer be positively impacted by the story being told is a win for me.

The biggest challenge for me getting where I am today was confidence and comparison. I mentioned earlier that I was never confident in what I created, and it showed in my work. I was always looking to what other creators were doing and how many clients they had, that I was completely oblivious to the unique fingerprint I had on my own content, and now as I’m farther along on this journey, I see that I bring a unique perspective of a story only I can tell. Being a creator that sees people as people and not just an audience allows me to create content that is personal and purposeful, which is where my ministry experience comes in. I’m a people person at heart, and, that’s the biggest thing I want people to know about me as an artist and personal brand. My goal is to inspire you to tell your story in a perspective that has never been told before by getting to know what your passions are, what burdens you, and what you want others to feel when they hear it. Those pieces are the foundational parts of a story that everything else flows from, and that’s what I want to help others express.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this! If my best friend was visiting for a week, I would definitely take them to some pretty well known spots, and we’re eating GOOD. As an artist, one night we are dressing up, and hitting the High Museum of Art. I’ve been a few times, and the work there is breathtaking. I love to shop, so places downtown like Ponce and Atlantic Station are a must! Moving a little more north, I would go to The Avalon, and since we’re there, we’re gonna hit up Superica or Bocado Burger (I had these cheese fries that were AMAZING!), and Jeni’s to finish off (I. LOVE. ICE. CREAM!). The Avalon looks really nice at night when you walk the strip, so we would definitely do that. To get the adrenaline pumping, places like Andretti’s and Main Event are definitely on the agenda. During the summer, churches like Passion City and Free Chapel have some pretty cool young adult services going on, which is how I have met a lot of my friends, and I would love for my best friend to experience that with me. On less busy days, I am all for a work day at a coffee shop, and a photoshoot. I shoot batch content on my content days, so I would love to include my best friends in on the process, and scout out some cool photoshoot locations, and just have fun with it. For someone who’s never been to ATL, hanging out downtown and in the metro Atlanta area is cool because you never now what you’ll see, and there will always be something good to eat and something fun to do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Man, I literally don’t even know where to begin! First and foremost, I have to thank God for everything. I wouldn’t be here without the faithfulness of Jesus there to pick me up and direct my path. I am also super grateful for my parents for raising me to develop a meaningful relationship with God and other people.

They are a huge support system when it comes to my business and they always push me to be the version of myself. My friends from school and church are also great influences and inspirations in what it looks like to chase what’s in front of you, and never give up.
