Meet Justin Harris | Content Creator + Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Justin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would have to say one the biggest factors behind the success of my brand is authenticity. So many people put up a façade of what they think people want to see, but so many of them burn-out or fail because of this. I’ve always been my self, never tried to fit in a specific mold or a particular niche or demographic, I’m me and my audience is built around that. I would have to also attribute long-term objectives as another big factor behind the success of my brand. Whether it be a Podcast, Merchandise Line or Web-series I always have goals set and where I see the project going long-term. If I can’t see long term goals or objectives I usually wont do the project.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So currently I’m producing 2 podcasts, 2 web-series, and a merchandise line. What sets me apart from the others is my work ethic, and perseverance. For the most part all projects that I produce are by me, excluding some upcoming projects I’m co-producing, I do all the editing, graphics, promotion, writing and filming all by me. I built those projects up from the ground all by my self with the bare minimum. And why things did get tough when I was first launching “Millennial Talk” I pushed through, and with that came “Millennial Merch”, “Justin’s Unofficial Guide.” “Conapira(SERIES)” and “Real Talk With JB”. More recently I’ve been able to partner up with one of my best-friends, the one and only India Tyree!! To stream her and her amazing cast of all BLACK female performers for “ Black Women Millennials: Tribute To Black Women Of 90’s R&B” which “MillennialTalk “ live streamed! I’m such a big fan of hers and I have been since I first met her almost 5 years ago at Old Dominion University. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg we also have a lot more original content in development.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well first I’d definitely, have to take them to “Red Pepper Taqueria” for brunch, they have the best brunch and mimosas, hands down. Most certainly a must-do when I have friends and family visit. Entertainment wise I’d definitely have to take them to the “Jennie T Anderson Theatre” to see one of the Lyric’s shows or one of their house produced productions! both are phenomenal!! After that definitely Tacos at “Velvet Taco” the Picnic Taco and Elote Corn are my favorite!! and they have $7 Margaritas!! After that I would for sure have to go by “Tiff’s Treats” for a Warm Cookie! or 2! There’s just so many possibilities and options! you have the giant Ferris wheel downtown! or Der Biergarten. Just endless entertainment and food!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely owe my success so far to my family and friends. More specifically my Mom, Sister and Grandparents the things they’ve done for me I’ll never be able to pay them back! Shout-out to my amazing friends, whom I can’t even name without forgetting someone so I’ll do a general statement! It’s safer that way! haha Also a huge thank you to my producing partner and co-host of Millennial Talk, Ciarra!
