We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin F Hollins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin F, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The extra hard work one has to put in to become a Actor, a lot of people do not realize the sacrifice and hard work & training that is standard, it’s a true marathon, and it a marriage with a lot of rejection but the dedication and hard will pay off in due time and a lot a times, a great pay off isn’t always in the form of money.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, I am I trained Actor, I started at the age of 36, from the bottom, I overcame some challenges with insecurities of self & low self esteem, especially being a actor out of Charleston, SC, where their isn’t many opportunities and proper training, a few years after I started, I had the opportunity to train with three of the best Acting schools in NYC, New York Film Academy, The New York Conservatory For Dramatic Arts and the very prestigious, Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, as a single father at 42 years old, God has blessed me from my past life of being a loser and making countless bad choices along with some stints in jail & bouts with drugs and alcohol, I was so in need to find myself so I could walk out of the darkness and destruction that was my life and God gave me that through being a Actor and for that it’s made me better and for that. I have made it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve been spending 2-3 months of of the last three years training exclusively in Manhattan, so my favorite spots are pretty much everywhere, I grab camera and I venture the city and the subways & try to capture the best images possible, I’m not the club guy, I love looking at street art and broadway.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to say, my mother, sister, aunt & daughter, have been the foundation of my support system, without them especially my sister, I would be nothing, so, to them, a big shoutout & much love.
