We had the good fortune of connecting with Justice Morant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justice, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Being 17 with a full time running business is hard, I am a student in high school and a varsity cheerleader . After being shadow-banned for 4 months on instagram people were unable to see my content, I lost 400 followers and was not getting enough sales. At that point , I wanted to give up I felt as if the high of running a business was over and it was no point for me to keep going. I later realized that Instagram shall not and will not determine my strive to be successful I spent endless nights making my custom process better and working to bring the followers and interactions back to my page. I knew that if I gave up I would prove everybody right that a young African American girl couldn’t have a successful business customizing crocs. I knew that if I gave up I would let the thousands of women I influenced to start there own custom croc business that just because one thing doesn’t go right you have to give up. Having people who are not my friends , family, and peers believe me in me motivate me to keep going and become a better and successful entrepreneur!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Customizing Crocs was not a trend I decided to hop on. Crocs have been a popular comfort shoe for years , and more. Me creating style and beauty to these shoes that people may presume as ugly or not pleasing to the eye I knew if I could take my love for art and creativity I can change minds worldwide. It took me 3 months to start selling my customs , I did not have the confidence or the support from everyone to start my own business page, I knew people would say it was corny or it wouldn’t go far. I knew I had to start somewhere , I had to start a page and see if I could prove people wrong. From there , my first day of posting my business page I gained 500 followers. I learned on the way that peoples opinions do not matter , what works for you will work for you and what doesn’t you must try your best to make it work. My brand is based solely on creativity and unique personality I had no reference , no designs were copied %100 of my designs came from me and me only and my love for art .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The DMV is known for a lot of things from seafood to go-go music but me see I’m different lol. If I had to bring a friend to the DMV I would honestly take them to African American Museum located in DC . DC has a strip full of amazing museums and artifacts that simply can not be found nowhere else. These places are worth seeing because everybody can learn from ages 5-55 it’s truly a sight to see !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to Sierra Glam Shop. Sierra glam shop is a tv personality but also a full time micro blading and lash business instructor. Sierra teaches teens and adult women how to accumulate thousands by doing things they love. Running her glam shop and being a full time tv personality has inspired me that if I just stay consistent and work on my craft that someday I can make as much as a big influence as Sierra.
