We had the good fortune of connecting with Juriel Marmol and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juriel, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired and have always been inspired by my own self-desire to become the best at my craft. Every single time I create art, I’m trying to find new challenges and obstacles that I can overcome so I can create a substance that is unbelievably interesting to look at. Something that pleases your eyes and mind.

What should our readers know about your business?
Being an artist, I’ve learned that it’s 20% art, and 80% business. I think my interest in the business world, and my goals that I know I’ll accomplish in the future are the reasons that I’ve been able to make my art my full time job.

Being an artist full-time is a blessing, It was extremely hard at first, not making money at all, being scared to put gas into my car, having to stay home instead of spending time with my friends just so I can save a little bit of money. Doing all these things just to invest into my craft.

I had to learn how to market my business, how to speak to people properly, how to present myself in a professional matter, how to handle money, learning to know MY OWN WORTH and my art’s worth. All of this came with experience. Most of the lessons I learned, you couldn’t just find in a random book or youtube video. I had to go through tough experiences and accept what happened; and take what I can and apply it to my future endeavors.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m an extremely impulsive person, I LOVE extreme things. If there’s something like bungee jumping, or cliff jumping, or swimming in a lake, hikes, ANYTHING. I wanna make sure this person gets their heart rate jumping, I feel like utilizing your body in events like these remind you that you’re alive, and that you as a human have access to SOOOO many beautiful things in life. I don’t know if that sounds corny or not but, I don’t really care, that’s what I’d love to do.

I don’t really care about food on a trip, or clubbing, or anything of that nature. I just love enjoying the place for what it is, Terrain, Weather, the people, and just the energy of that place.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The one person I can think of when I think of my journey as an artist is my older brother @michaknows.

He’s a Tattoo Artist and Future UFC Champion, and this guy does everything. Whether it’s construction, marketing, art, self-improvement… everything. I’ve always looked up to my brother, and he’s been an extremely crucial part to my success. I would not have made it this far in my career if it wasn’t for his guidance, and hardcore critique. One of the most talented individuals you will ever meet in the flesh.
