We had the good fortune of connecting with Julius Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julius, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, I don’t think there was so much of a plan of starting a business , you know, the whole figuring out a name, the logo , what this means to me, how is this product going to so and so forth. . The ‘plan’ was always doing something that felt natural to me and figure out as I go to provide value the way I know how. I always knew I was going to do something creative because I can’t live on being on a regular cut and dry routine of work , sleep, pay bills for 40+ years . That can’t be the only version of what living you life is about. I don’t subscribe to it too much.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
To be blunt, my art consists of cartoon depicting the angel and devil. The concept of it is called NewHell. NewHell being the reality in which we are currently living and the 2 characters are depicting the duality of the Average person how they think, consumed by, overall another way of showing the battles of it is creating your heaven (story) .

Where my art sets apart from others is that it’s easy to look at and easy to form unique interpretation of whatever it may mean to the eye of the beholder. There’s no right or wrong answer and I try not to give a run on tangent of what it means , the inspiration etc. and I get it , the audience wants to know but I think it’s way more raw to allow other to use their imagination and free roam. that’s how audience can connect easier with what’s in front of them without an essay. I’m proud of how much it works without having to say anything personally I think if someone’s art can just do that, then it’s working.

Coming from the crazy time we collectively had in quarantine , a little before that was announced , around spring / moving into summer 2019 , I had gotten let go from a serving job at a movie theater . I had just barely finished painting a mural for the job, so I just had these doodles that was in my sketchbook and painting starting out. It wasn’t anything fully fleshed out and now that I had the down time cause of being let go & the quarantine . I decided to get back into the habit and drawing almost everyday and build on the doodles I liked drawing at the time . One thing led to another in ways where these doodles were catching people’s attention
For whatever reason it was . It was only smart to keep going , you know ?

Of course it’s not easy , it’s not easy to maintain a job and do what you love after . It’s not easy to be consistent some days , it’s not easy when you’re consistently putting the reps in only for it to feel like you’re going no where. it’s all work within the work if the makes sense . It’s a never ending process of figuring it out . However life isn’t easy and you choose what you want to go through , I choose to go through this lane than the other lane cause I rather go through the challenges this lane comes with. At least from what I learned so far this is a marathon , and like a marathon you have to be patient , find your pace, and enjoy the journey.

For the world and anyone out there, there’s nothing off the top of my head I want them to know but just a thank you for finding my work, taking the time to engage and enjoy what im doing on this side, & im looking forward to sharing my art with you .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not sure , I’m a pretty boring person to be honest . If my friends came to visit I mean we would go to the batting cages , go the store get a couple beers , watch ufc or something or play some smash bros . Maybe go to a vintage shop and look for steals and deals on stuff . Maybe like find something to do on the way of going to a destination . Spontaneity.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
