We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Ceo Shannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia CEO, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for the Concierge of Small Biz (CSB) was born out of a pattern I couldn’t ignore: countless entrepreneurs struggling to build profitable businesses. When I stepped back to analyze why, it boiled down to three core issues: lack of resources, strategy, and intentional effort. Often, this stemmed from focusing on the wrong priorities or being trapped in cycles of misinformation and misguidance, leaving them stagnant.

Many people think of resources solely as money, but I see them as practical information, insightful connections, valuable skills, and effective tools. When I designed the framework for CSB, my goal was to bridge these gaps. I envisioned providing entrepreneurs with everything they needed to break free from the weeds of operational challenges and build momentum toward a system of lasting success. By equipping business owners with the right strategies and resources, they could finally focus on creating sustainable, profitable businesses that withstand the test of time.

Inspired by the success of the Concierge of Small Biz, I recently launched the Global BuildUp Initiative (GBUI) a workforce development program that scales the foundational principles of CSB globally. GBUI’s mission is to train leaders to start and manage their own small businesses, enhance existing ones, and transform underskilled individuals into highly capable team members who can drive business success.

GBUI offers comprehensive training in technology, leadership, and business management, reflecting the refined support structures CSB has perfected. But it goes further: our mission is to uplift entire communities. By empowering new leaders and enhancing workforce skills, GBUI creates a ripple effect of education, economic empowerment, and growth that transcends borders.

My ultimate goal is to collaborate with brilliant minds to cultivate a sustainable ecosystem where newly skilled individuals energize thriving businesses. This collaboration will transform lives and strengthen the resilience of entire communities. By fostering these connections and creating opportunities for growth, I aim to leave a legacy of empowerment, innovation, and impact that endures for the next 200 years.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets the Concierge of Small Biz apart is our ability to deliver innovative strategies, tailored solutions, and actionable tools that help business owners not just get by but build momentum and create viable systems for growth. At CSB, we don’t just consult; we actually partner with our clients to solve problems, seize opportunities, and create sustainable growth by doing the work alongside them.

I’m most proud of the measurable impact of our work. For example, we helped an e-commerce business achieve an astonishing 3,200% growth within just 45 days of implementing our strategy. We saved a service-based client $15,000 by identifying a critical contract loophole, supported a fintech company in executing a cohesive brand overhaul that elevated visibility and customer engagement, and helped a tech company secure six figures in funding. These aren’t just wins for CSB; they’re wins for the entrepreneurial spirit and a testament to what’s possible when you combine strategy, innovation, and execution. I’m especially excited about our latest project, the Global BuildUp Initiative (GBUI), which takes the CSB mission globally, training and empowering leaders to build businesses that uplift entire communities.

The path to where I am today has been anything but easy. Entrepreneurship demands resilience, adaptability, and a relentless focus on growth. I’ve faced challenges like cash flow struggles, scaling operations, managing teams, and wearing multiple hats. One of the most pivotal hurdles I encountered was the lack of automation early on in my business. However, by asking the right questions and reimagining what my business could become with the integration of technology, AI, and strategic tools, I empowered myself to work smarter as a leader and as a consultant. Every obstacle became a lesson, teaching me the importance of surrounding myself with the right people, staying rooted in my mission, and viewing challenges as opportunities for innovation. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that success is never a solo journey; it’s built through collaboration, persistence, and a constant willingness to evolve.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know about CSB, it’s that we’re here to empower entrepreneurs to turn their visions into legacies. We believe in creating businesses that are not only profitable but impactful. Real success is about the lives and communities we uplift along the way. My story, and the story of CSB, proves that there’s no limit to what we can achieve with the right strategy, intentional effort, and a commitment to helping others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Alright, so here’s how we’d have to set the tone and kick things off:

Day 1: It’s Chill Vibes & Good Music
We’d start with live music at St. James Live, where the atmosphere and energy are unmatched.

Day 2: Drinks & Casual Dining
A trip to Twin Peaks in Buckhead for their daily drink specials is a must because who doesn’t love good drinks and great prices? We’d hit up Fat Matt’s Rib Shack for legendary BBQ and the best sweet potato pie for dinner.

Day 3: Steak & Sophistication
To really impress someone, we’d dine at Hal’s in Buckhead; the steaks and the service are truly exceptional.

Day 4: Brunch & Exploring Midtown
No visit is complete without brunch at either Flying Biscuit or Breakfast at Barneys, both amazing local staples. Later, we’d head to Urban Hai in Midtown for some good Chinese cuisine.

Day 5: Late-Night Cravings
Hungry AF in Decatur always delivers with their flavorful wings and big plates.

Day 6: Cigars & Scene
Depending on the vibe, the Cigar Bar in Lithonia or Fellaship in Atlanta. Both spots have great cigars, good people, and a smooth atmosphere for conversation and unwinding.

Day 7: Movies & a Relaxing Finish
We’d head to IPIC for a movie to wrap up the week.

Clearly, my love for this city revolves around food and great ambiance, but that’s what makes Atlanta so special! There’s always something to do, eat, or experience, and that’s what keeps it exciting.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my tribe, my family, who laid the foundation of my resilience and creativity, and my clients, who have trusted me with their dreams and allowed me to play a role in their success. My family has always been my anchor and my inspiration; their unwavering support and the lessons they’ve taught me are embedded in everything I do. My clients, past and present, deserve immense credit for challenging me to think bigger and push boundaries. They’ve been my partners in innovation, and watching their growth fuels my passion for this work. Together, they remind me every day why I do what I do.
