We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua “PRiME” Calhoun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua “PRiME”, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy? Honestly I love choreographing, that brings me so much peace and serenity. When I’m locked in a studio and zoned into what I want to create it just brings me to a place of complete bliss. No one to tell how I should be, no distractions just me, music, and the mirror thats all I need to be happy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a choreographer & dancer. My choreography brand is labeled:

PRiMEOGRAPHY and through that I provide choreography & creative services. I’ve worked with high school teams, collegiate teams, community based organizations, fraternities, sororities, as well as several artist creating and choreographing for several events.

What sets me apart from others? I’ve always live by the mantra “Comparison is the biggest thief of joy”, so I never worry about what others are doing when my arms in the fire.

What you are most proud of or excited about? My growth and my future!

How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? (Trail, error, and grace, its far from easy but I do believe I can and will go further, I overcame my challenges by believing that no problem and issue is big enough to take out completely, I just remember who the hell I am and I get to work!)

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? (Always be true to yourself and your work, evolution in ones mental and physical health is the key to longevity, and the boys can wait your dreams however can’t.)

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? (That I’m passionate as hell about my work and my growth, and that I always push my pen!)

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I’m really a homebody but this would be my itinerary

Monday- We take class at Groove 2 Musik to start the week off right, after that grab something to eat from one of my favorite spots Mr.Everything.

Tuesday-Get another class in either at Groove 2 Musik or MYAREA after that taco Tuesday at the vault or MAMA’s is always a cool vibe.

Wednsday/Thursday- Rest because my social battery has to charge

Friday- We going to Friends at 10pm, point blank period lol

Saturday- Morning brunch Daq Factory, chill at Piedmont park during the day, nap, and we outside till Sunday 3am

Sunday- Brunch in house with a few friends and then we explore ATL

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely have an amazing support system from my friends in the ATL dance community, Delta Phi Delta Dance Fraternity Inc (DG, AE, AL, and AK), HA2 (C10), G2M (23′), Ms. Leigha Porter, Dom Fontent, Prentice Garrett My parents and XSQUAD. These people literally have been a huge help in the creative I am today. So to all of them I give a big shoutout and all my love to!
