Meet Joshua Muchison: Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Muchison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Mainly, I wanted the freedom of working for myself. I wanted to do things the right way. Typically, the first thing entrepreneurs think about is money. I totally understand as I have thought about financial freedom as well. One thing I’ve noticed is that most people focus on the destination and not the journey. I decided to focus on the journey so it would get me to the destination. I wanted to be different. I focus on doing good business with clients so that my work would speak for itself. I wanted to stand out from the rest. These were the things I thought of when I was in the early stages of my business.

What should our readers know about your business?
So I do have two businesses. The first one is a real estate investment firm called Opulent Brothers, LLC which I co-own with my business partners Ty Jackson and Jalon Gibbons. The other one is a vending machine business called Muchi’s Vending Services, LLC which I started last year. I’ll start with Opulent Brothers. Opulent Brothers, LLC is a real estate investment company and we primarily specialize in wholesale and flipping properties. We are hoping to grow the business into doing many different services in real estate which would include property management, Airbnb, rental property, etc. Muchi’s Vending Services, LLC is a vending machine supplier company. Currently, we have one vending machine location and just secured a contract for a second location. I am hoping to grow the company to eventually have multiple locations in Georgia, a servicing department, and also a mobile vending aspect. What’s sets us apart in both businesses is simple. We focus on the way we do business instead of solely making money. The goal is to make money but also make it the right way. We focus on our clientele. How can we get them to remember us? How do we keep them so satisfied, that will only do business with us every time? The journey will always get you to the destination! With Opulent Brothers, I am most proud of sticking with the process. I live by a saying that I came up with, “You have to season before you cook”. We have failed many times in Real Estate. We had a deal that we was close to last year that could have made a lot of money on. We went about things the wrong way and we lost the deal. We have used the failures for fuel and motivation to continue thriving. With Muchi’s Vending Services, LLC, I am definitely still in the early stages but the model is the same. We perfected the process of finding locations for vending machines and creating a process that allows us to tailor the specific vending machines and items served to the liking of the business owner and their clientele. It has not been easy. I’ve faced many failures and made some bad decisions. I’ve taken lessons out of each one of them. I’m not perfect. Failure is actually beautiful to me because you begin to see what you can improve on. I’ve learned to be patient and know that the stage that I’m in, I won’t be there always. I’ve learned the importance of networking and establishing relationships with people who can push buttons.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My girlfriend, who I’m dating long distance, has been in town for a month and some change so I can tell you some of the things we have done and other things I would do to show a good time. I’m an outdoors person so hiking is always fun. We’ve went to The Painted Duck which is a Duck pin bowling spot with games, a bar and restaurant. We’ve went to some great eating spots. We’ve went to Copeland’s, Grindhouse Killer Burgers and Bay Breeze Seafood. I’d probably also check out the gun range, movies, lounges, escape rooms, axe throwing, rooftop at Ponce.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely like to shoutout my family. My mother and father, Jeffery and Sandra Muchison, have been by my side with everything I’ve done in business. As I am in my early stages of things still, they have definitely helped me with many things. My sister and brother, Rhonda and Anthony, have both supported as well. I have to thank my business partners, Ty Jackson and Jalon Gibbons, for sticking with the process as we understand that you have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet, so we have to stick with the process. One book that has helped me a lot is The Art & Science of Respect by J Prince. I would like to thank him as seeing his entrepreneur journey inspired me to continue to grow and thrive within my own process.
