Meet Joshua Eernisse | Embroider and Hat Welder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Eernisse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
‘Some people see things as they are and say why, I dream things that never were and say, why not – George Bernard Shaw
What this means to me is that my future is what I want to make it. So, looking to the future is exciting and filled with endless possibilities. But, what I like most about this quote is that you should never settle for a dream of the life you want.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In my industry, what sets you apart is delivering to clients on time and not being afraid to let the client know that the concept they want won’t look good. In my twenties, I was in a band called The Wading Girl. I needed a part part-time job and found a screen printing job. I fell in love with it instantly. After the band broke up, I became production manager and started into embroidery. I moved from Roanoke, Va, to Norfolk for wives job and landed another job running embroidery for Prince Ink. Finally, my wife’s job relocated to Atlanta, and I decided to start my own company, and Ernie Threads was born. I love working on hats. I have an inside joke with Sarah Spain of ESPN that welding is the process I use to make hats. “The Commish” is never wrong, so I now tell everyone I’m a welder of hats.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we will go to POCO LOCO and eat the best burritos in Atlanta. If you read this, look them up and go there as soon as possible. Next, we would head to the beltline and cruise on some onewheels. Then it’s off to Inner Voice Brewery, where you can pick up some rad merch I made for them and great beer. After a couple of beers, grab some slices of Glide Pizza and head to the Decatur Marta Station so we would end the night by catching an ATL United game.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Matt Wallace and Ed Jewel have always believed in my abilities and encouraged me through the process of starting my own company. When I need advise they both are willing to answer my calls and share all their experience in the decorating industry. They have always treated me as an equal, which has helped me keep the doubts and fears away that cause most businesses to succeed. I also have to shout out to my wife because she has always been unbelievably supportive from the day I said I wanted to start my own company.
