Meet Joshua Davis

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Long before Monogram Styling existed, I was already buying deeply discounted polos in college and flipping them for a profit. That weekend hustle taught me two core lessons: I have a natural instinct for sourcing investment-grade apparel and understand that luxury is defined by the confidence and story you attach to each piece.
When the 2008 crash hit, those lessons took on new meaning. My best friend’s father lost his lifelong paint-store business—and with it, his sense of worth. His wife asked if I could help him dress for a job interview. We curated a simple, impeccably tailored outfit—a crisp button-front shirt, perfectly cut trousers and polished Oxfords—and the transformation was immediate: he walked out of that fitting room standing taller than I’d ever seen. In that moment it became clear that clothing isn’t just fabric; it restores dignity.
Armed with that insight, I honed my craft—building relationships with artisan ateliers, mastering color theory and training as an image consultant in Charleston—before launching Monogram Styling in 2011. From day one my goal has been to blend insider access to factory-level sourcing with a seamless, process-driven experience that saves clients time and builds confidence. Today, as a leading luxury personal shopper, personal stylist and image consultant, I serve discerning clients worldwide with in-home, in-office or virtual consultations; curate limited-edition and bespoke pieces from Paris to Milan and New York to Tokyo; and deliver wardrobe strategies that maximize versatility, longevity and return on investment.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Monogram Styling apart is our obsession with process and people above all else. Unlike stylists who chase the latest trend or make one-off suggestions, I’ve built a system that gets you direct access to artisinal produces and helps you wear each item in a way that fits your life.
It wasn’t always smooth sailing. From flipping polos in college, to countless factory visits and hours spent with every kind of artist, jewelry, cobbler and tailor, I’ve earned every connection. Luxury houses were understandably skeptical at first, but every successful client transformation became the bridge to the next opportunity—and referrals are our strongest endorsement.
The real investment isn’t the price tag—it’s people. You can source the rarest fabric, but without understanding your lifestyle and goals, every outfit falls flat. True refinement means never settling: there’s always a new atelier to discover, a technique to refine, and a higher standard to meet. And because your time is as valuable as your style, I offer in-home, in-office or virtual consultations that seamlessly fit around even the busiest schedule.
As a luxury personal shopper, personal stylist and image consultant, I’m most proud when a client halfway around the world feels as confident in their wardrobe as they do in their own skin. Monogram Styling exists to restore dignity, amplify your personal brand and build a wardrobe that feels effortless—and exclusively yours.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For food, you have to hit H&F Burger for a smash patty, grab wings at The Companion, indulge in omakase at Hayakawa and start a morning with Southern fare at The Chastain.
For drinks, swing by Brash Coffee for single-origin pour-overs, sip craft cocktails at Himitsu and toast with a cold brew (pup-approved) at Drafty Dane.
For fun, treasure-hunt the showrooms in Westside Provisions, bike or stroll the BeltLine Eastside and let your dog run wild at Drafty Dane’s dog bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe my deepest gratitude to Scot, the entrepreneur who first showed me that a business exists to serve people, not the other way around. Long before I knew the names of couture ateliers or bespoke tailors, Scot taught me the art of buying and selling—and more importantly, that every person has intrinsic value. His guidance didn’t come from the fashion world, but his ethos underpins everything we do at Monogram Styling. Calling him a “mentor” barely scratches the surface of his impact: his insistence on service, integrity, and human dignity has shaped our approach to luxury acquisition, personal styling, and image consulting.
Today, whether I’m sourcing a limited-edition jacket from Milan or advising a CEO halfway across the globe, I carry Scot’s lessons with me: that the greatest luxury is feeling seen, respected, and confidently oneself.
