We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Chaney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I take risk because I think about being average. To me being average is not going outside your comfort zone or exploring new things and/or opportunities. Life or career taking risks is necessary in order to evolve. You don’t grow in anything if you keep playing it safe.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from most people is the soul in music. I feel like people, rappers in particular, lack what it means to put your all into it. Everything for the paper which in actuality is ideal because you have to eat however a person can notice when some love is put into music. I’m most proud about the albums I put together over the last few years. It keeps me motivated and driven. Not to mention the people who tell me I have a gift and that God is going to open some doors for me with my gift. The most thing that I’ve noticed people lack is consistency. You have to keep it going if you want to be the greatest at anything. Consistency and discipline is key. The road was not easy at all. I had to let some people go, find myself all over again and just hop back into it. You usually know when something is off and find a rhythm for it. I’ve learned not everything is going to go as planned and also that people are not going to always have your best interest at heart. Put your faith in the most high and keep striving for greatness. God will not let you down. I’m just a lil boy from the Eastside of Atlanta with big dreams and pursing them takes time and effort. If I don’t go after my dreams nobody will. So I’m continuing to go further in everything. Time will definitely show the work I put in.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend to the vegan place I always perform at in Atlanta called Black Mountains. Because it’s around the winter time we would go ice skating in Atlantic station. We would take a walk in pediment park and for the rest of the week chill.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I credit my blessings and lessons to the bible itself. My old Kipp schools that I attended to encourage me to keep an interest in music. My family was always a major support for me in what I did. Also last but certainly not least GOD. Without God I wouldn’t be a far as I am today.
