We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua B. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Most people are unable to differentiate the difference between an Image consultant and a stylist. Image consultants focus on aligning their client’s current look with their desired goals/outcomes. One thing that people are unaware of is how many people and industries utilize image consultants. As an image consultant, my job is to help improve my client’s physical appearance, communication skills, and interpersonal skills.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in helping men and women fine-tune their brand and image. I focus on the “ABCDs of Image.” Appearance, behavior, communication, and digital footprint. Not only do I shift my clients’ approach when they view a certain item; but I also guide the purchasing decision of an item, allowing them to choose a quality piece that can be worn for years. Choosing quality pieces of fabric or material allows people to wear them interchangeably in multiple settings. However, certain brands or items are conversation starters in certain settings. Once we have your appearance down, we then start to work on your behavior and verbal and nonverbal communication. I believe your clothes speak for you, now your words must match your style. I also help my clients improve their etiquette in multiple settings. Once that is done, we can translate that information online, expanding to a broader audience. At the moment, I am most proud of the work that I’ve done with different brands and knowing that people can take away tips from the content I showcase.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta, on Sundays after church we would go to brunch at Toast on Lenox. Monday, we would catch a Brave’s game at Truist Park and visit the scenery in the Battery. Tuesday, we would head to Lenox and go shopping. For Wednesday, we’d head to a Yoga class on the lawn in Atlantic Station. Thursday night, we’ll head to Slingshot Social Game Club and have some fun. On Friday, we would head to Ponce City Market and pregame at Bar Vegan to start the weekend off right. Saturday, we’ll be outside at a Mimosa festival.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I have to give all the glory and honor to God. It’s one thing to believe what people say about you or what they say you are, but that’s when you have to look up to the source and believe who he says you are and block everyone else out. Jesus’s love and favor have definitely gotten me to this point in my life so therefore, it would only be right if the credit goes to him first. Also, I wanted to thank my family and loved ones for always believing in me and being an anchor when I could have drifted away from my goals and purpose.
