We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Wilhelm and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
Called to Create by Jordan Raynor really challenged my view on what it means to be creative by changing how I view myself as a creator. It highlights that each of us are created to create, wether or not we have the education or formal degree for it. Personally I love working on projects that make a difference in other peoples lives by telling their story, and by doing so making the world more welcoming and beautiful. This book helped me look past my creativity as just a business but as a means to better the world around me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love what I do, because it’s very multifaceted. A couple weeks ago I was working on album cover, and currently I’m working on a logo for a podcast. On top of those I’m recording, editing, and producing the Let it Rip – With Ron podcast. It makes it fun because every project is different, and takes a different set of skills. I want people to know that I take their project very personally. I want to tell their story, and bring their vision to life. For me this isn’t about a job, it’s an opportunity to meet a lot of different people, hear their stories, and help shore those stories with the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite part about Chattanooga is the variety of great restaurants, and anyone who knows me knows that I love to eat. I would take them to get the best fried chicken at Champy’s World Famous Fried Chicken. Next would be my favorite Mexican food joint, and that is Amigos Mexican restaurant. It has to be the one on Dayton Blvd next to the sketchy pawn shop with the bars on the windows, trust me its the best. Any trip to Chattanooga wouldn’t be complete with out walking the Walnut street bridge, and then driving up the mountain to Pointe Park and seeing one of the most amazing views of the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I need to recognize my wife. She is my biggest cheerleader and really challenges me to get out of my comfort zone when I am stuck. Another person who deserves a lot of recognition is my good friend Brent who is always encouraging and supportive of my business. Without his advice and opportunities he’s presented me, I wouldn’t have much to speak about today. Lastly, I’m so thankful that all of my friends have been there to encourage me. Opening up my creative side and letting people in wasn’t easy for me, but their support has been so helpful.
