We had the good fortune of connecting with José Luis González and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi José Luis, what makes you happy? Why?
I think it’s those little things that really give us true happiness, personally it’s that message in the mornings from that special person, being able to have the time I want to share with my loved ones, spending the afternoon with my couple having some drinks watching comedy videos, listening music or watching a good series…. Artistically it makes me totally happy to know that my works are all around the world, I have managed to get in contact with music celebrities, youtubers and influencers, I have made works for some of them and much more on the way.
It makes me very happy to know that my paintings are in the eyes of many people and that media from other countries such as Shoutout Atlanta Magazine give me the opportunity to share a little of me and continue creating art for the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since I was a child I was always passionate about the arts, drawing, painting, sculpture, etc. I come from a family of artists on my mother’s side, so I think this beautiful heritage comes from my grandfather. All the time I had that constant need to be creating new things and those ideas materialized in the form of paper, canvas or sculpture. It is a way of being able to express what words often cannot.
It was always clear to me that it was what I liked to do and that is why I decided to study fine arts. This career allowed me to develop conceptually by learning to create projects and technically learning anatomical drawing, technical drawing, oil, watercolor, pastels, sculpture, screen printing, etc.

What distinguishes my artworks is that combination of realism but without leaving behind that special touch that pop art has. All those flashy colors combine perfectly when pairing them with the great personalities of the entertainment world. I mainly like to paint portraits of famous people, great celebrities and trends of the moment.
I am very proud to have been able to communicate with many of these people that I admire and respect so much and to paint for them, I am excited to see how my social networks are growing day by day, to see that celebrities begin to know about me, they follow me and share my work on their networks. with that great exposure I will be able to reach the eyes of many more people.

Not everything is happiness, of course there are moments in life where we want to give up, moments where it seems that we have everything against us, but over the years I have understood that for everything there is an opposite, those obstacles in the way are those that prove our existence, that dark part is the one that gives meaning to the bright
You must surround yourself with the right people who inspire you to continue fighting day by day, since for them you will always look for the best and the best is only achieved by moving forward.

One of the things I’m proud of is that I always come up with creative solutions to problems. I never give up in the face of adversity and I look for a way to solve it, I always work with the materials I have on hand, like someone who says “I turn lemon into lemonade”
A very important factor for success is having confidence in yourself and in your work team, confidence that is gained over the years with what has been learned and perfected from each project that passes through your hands.
To achieve this you have to be constant, have a passion for what you do, set achievable goals, be creative to constantly generate ideas, be sociable, never stop learning, use social networks to your advantage and work with an appropriate team that understands and share your vision.

Being an artist is a way of life, I think that most of the time it is difficult, although necessary, to find a balance between work and life.
In my world, art is present 24/7. The artist’s task is to transform everything that happens to us into art so that it can remain in the memory of the world and prevail over time.
Nowadays with the advancement of technology and globalization it is much easier to have our office (Smartphone) at hand
Therefore the work of an artist never ends.
Even in moments of rest my mind never stops thinking of ideas which come from all over the world around us, all these ideas eventually become art. Even when dreaming, the mind continues to work.
The secret is in the famous phrase of Confucius “Choose a job that you like and you will not have to work a day of your life”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all I would take him to eat at a good buffet, I love buffets! I think after lunch we could go to the mall, visit some shops and have some coffee or ice cream. Later we could go to the movies. At night we would have a good time at home catching up on our lives, remembering old times all this accompanied by good music and some drinks.
I would take him for a walk around my studio to show him some of my artworks and I suppose that a few more days I could take him to know the center of my city, museums, monuments, magical towns and if we want to get a little extreme we could go climbing or practice rappelling are very fun activities where many emotions are mixed.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people in my life that I thank for being in this place. Mainly I appreciate all the support that I have received in my family throughout my artistic career. I also thank my couple, she is my right hand, we work together on each project and we have created a great team. she is my strength in difficult moments.
