We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jose, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always loved art from a very young age, all forms to be completely honest. It started with drawing, eventually moved into performing in theater and later in high school I found my love for writing, painting, photography, and digital art. Towards the end of high school I found makeup to be unlike any other art form I had ever experienced, it was so much more for me than any other kind of art form I had ever practiced previously. I then graduated high school in 2016 and moved on to start working for MAC Cosmetics and go on to start cosmetology school and found a passion for hair color. As this time went on I got heavily involved in the cosmetic industry and also began modeling. Fast forward into about 2019 and I had graduated college I found that I started falling in love with the fashion side of the cosmetic industry and then found my drag family Yutoya Léon, Christina Léon, and Pynk S. Dyme in Macon, GA and Lillith LaVeyan was created . Moving forward to present day, I have now moved to Atlanta and am still with MAC and love what I do, I’ve finally found my niche, my drag is taking off as well and I couldn’t be more happy with where I am today.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Getting here wasn’t the easiest but I had people who care about me behind me the entire time, and now have a drag family of my own with my two sisters Lana LaVeyan Scott and Lynniece LaVeyan Scott. I also have the support of my fiancé Adam Wilkinson who inspires me every day. I want the work to know I’m just getting started and to expect big thing to come! Also I just want to mention that I’ve started working closely with MEHDUSA on her upcoming project and lemme tell y’all you ain’t ready!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I was bringing someone to Atlanta I’d probably take them to La Petit Marche for brunch, they have some of the BEST breakfast/brunch food in Atlanta! I’d definitely take them out to Little 5 and hit up some of the shops in there, Psycho Sisters is my favorite place to shop there. Then I’d probably take them to The Vortex for lunch, and have a drink. Then maybe hit the Botanical Garden or maybe the High Art Museum. If we were wanting to go out for the night I’d probably take them to east Atlanta and hit up Mary’s or Sister Louisa’s Chruch for a good drag show or if they want some live music, Believe Music Hall where my Fiancé Adam Wilkinson is lead bartender for a good drink and some kick ass music.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to say thank you to my mother for always encouraging me to push my creativity. I want to shoutout Yutoya Léon, Christina Léon, and Pynk S. Dyme, for helping me find a part of myself I never thought I would know, and shout-out to my fiancé Adam Wilkinson for always supporting me and inspiring me to push myself.
