We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Pitts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art has always been a passion of mine. Whether it was painting, drawing, writing, photography or fashion; it’s always been an essential part of me. For me, I’ve known that the only way I would be happy with my career is if it was in the arts.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my business apart from others is that my work is very detailed yet versatile. Each of my pieces are custom made, with delicate but sturdy stitches and breathable yarn. While my writings highlight my journey to balancing my softness and strength; encouraging others to do the same. I feel like my books also depict the realistic obstacles when finding self love. My professional progress has been slow, but can be accredited to my patience, consistency behind the scenes, and the acceptance of constructive criticism. In the beginning I lacked patience, discipline , confidence and financial support. While these weren’t easy things to overcome, the encouragement and support from others and my commitment to my mental and physical health helped ground me. I am not perfect but I can confidently say I am a work in progress and constantly striving for better. Overall the biggest lesson I’ve learned is patience and humility.
I want others to look at my brand and realize that whatever you can imagine is possible with commitment. I feel like the patterns and books I have created have helped me and others realize that you should not put limitations on your ideas. In the beginning I often got discouraged because I hadn’t seen tutorials for what I wanted to create. I didn’t have the resources others did. If I had given up I would not have achieved what I have.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As far as outside adventures go, I prefer calm places like parks and restaurants owned by small businesses. I would take them hiking or to interactive art scenes. For the most part I’m very introverted, so cooking meals with friends, playing games and watching movies while making mixed drinks are my preferred activities.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout Tei Batson. She was a huge contributor in jump starting my crochet journey with tips and a variety of yarn.
