We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Markus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic/creative career simply because I knew from a very young age that there was nothing else I could do with my life and be living to my fullest potential. We’re only here for a fixed amount of time and I didn’t wanna waste it doing something I don’t love or something that someone else wants me to do. It’s your life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love anything creative, recording music, doing live theater, making videos, playing guitar/piano, it’s all so freeing and there’s endless options of what you can do because it’s coming from your own heart and mind.

Im really excited about all the new songs I’m writing, I can’t wait to share them with you guys!

I think one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is that no creation comes easy, there’s gonna be times where you don’t think it’s good enough or don’t think you can accomplish everything in your head but that couldn’t be more false. A couple years ago I would have never imagined having this platform and achieving the milestones that I have, but through the highs and lows I tell myself that as long as I don’t stop creating (whether that be a song or a video or playing a part on stage) there’s no way I can lose. And knowing that I’m nowhere near finished yet keeps me inspired.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You can never go wrong with Six flags! Also use always loved the high museum of art it’s a great place to take in some cool pieces. And in an ideal week we’d go to a hawks game because I love basketball.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my family of course for always supporting me any way they can. I got lucky enough to be part of a family where everyone has something creative to bring to the table, and we often help each other flesh out those ideas and bring them to life. It’s the best!
