Meet Jordan Mack: Actor & Unixorn

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Mack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think taking risk gives us the opportunity to truly see what we are capable of. Taking risks has played a huge part in my life and creative career. If it weren’t for the risks that I have taken in my life, I feel like I would be in an extremely dark place right now. Whether it was waking up one day and deciding to leave my home state for 3 years to live in LA, or deciding to live nomadically during the pandemic and ending up in Atlanta, risks have allowed me to truly learn about myself and be able to trust myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At the core, I am a storyteller who tells stories mostly through the lens of acting. One of my favorite quotes is by Kid Cudi, “the key to being different is being yourself.” I feel like being raised on a cattle ranch, the music that was played by my parents growing up, coming from a multiracial household and background gives me a unique perspective that generally isn’t seen or talked about often. Right now I am most excited about a short film I got the opportunity to play the lead in being completed around May, and I am prepping for a horror feature film that I am a lead in as well. I got to where I am now professionally from consistently working on myself, my craft and not being discouraged by the word “no.” It has not been easy and even though I have been pursuing acting for almost 10 years now, I’m still in early stages of my career which makes me excited. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is, this is a marathon, not a sprint. Practicing patience, not being too hard on myself and connecting to my spirituality has allowed me to overcome challenges and allowed me to grow as a person and artist. I want the world to know what a “Unixorn” is. It stands for: Uniquely Never Imitating X-tra Or Redundant Nonsense. I want the unixorns to be able to identify themselves and not be afraid to be their own unique self regardless of what the masses may think or do.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have been in the city for 3 months now, so I am still learning. First and foremost, the Georgia aquarium has to be on the list, easily the best aquarium in the country. I am a movie buff so I would say Starlight Drive in theatre too. There’s something deeply nostalgic about catching a movie a the drive-thru. Definitely gotta to grab lunch and lounge around at the Ponce Street Market and grab a craft brew from the Krog Street Market as well. Biscuits from Maple Street! Hit the thrift stores in Little Five Points and also check out some of the community farmers markets. Also, I love walking on nature trails and there are so many to choose from out here, so if the sun is shining I would say get lost with the trees out in the nature trails.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to recognize first the universal energy that allows us life, my life partner Kismet, my sisters Selena & Celeste, my parents for giving birth to me on the planet, my nieces Dawson and Sage, my right hand man Curtis, and everyone that I’ve gotten the opportunity to collaborate and work with. You are all appreciated!
