We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Godfree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, as a young college student I never thought I would own my own business. From the first time I picked up a camera I loved capturing other peoples most special moments, but never thought it could be anything more. After many months of practicing with my camera taking pictures of anything in front of me. I realized I could create a product that would not only make me money, but allow me to give back to my clients. From there I started a social media page and the people in my community jumped on the opportunity to support me and my business, which I couldn’t be more grateful for. By the summer of 2022 I owned my own photography business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Not only is Jordan Godfree Photography a business it is an art. From snapping the picture from unique angles and lighting to editing, each step is carefully thought through as art. While I wouldn’t consider myself a professional quite yet, I do feel my photography story is a unique one. One of the biggest lessons I have learned running Jordan Godfree Photography is customer service which is a never ending process. Through much trial and error, finding ways to make the process easier for my clients has been vital. Also, being so young I learned a lot about finances and how to manage all the other components of running a business aside from snapping pictures. A more personal lesson I learned was how to get out of my comfort zone, whether that is making connections or meeting new clients or even exploring new tricks with my camera. What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s a reflection of hard work and self discovery. Through this journey by investing on others I have learned the importance of cherishing every present moment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hands down I would take my best friend to a Braves game. Enjoying the electric atmosphere of the battery and Truist park. Then I would take a drive up to my college town, Dahlonega. Embracing the swift mountain air like an old friend. Indulging in all the sweets and good food that fills Dahlonega square to be topped off with a hike or trip to a waterfall. Finally ending the trip with a day by the pool, nothing is more refreshing on a hot summer day than jumping in the pool and chatting with the people I love most.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is no one who deserves a shout out more than my sister and my truest inspiration. My sister, Brooke, also shares my love for photography. She was my very first teacher, mentor, and model when I first picked up a camera. Without her my business and hopefully future career would never have existed.
