We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Rich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We like to think that J. Rich Atlanta is in the business of ATLANTA & real estate is just the vehicle we use to conduct that business. The people, the culture, and the opportunity Atlanta has to be a globally influential city is what we’re interested in. So things like equitable housing policy, encouraging strong community based growth our intown neighborhoods, and a buying in fully to the greatest commandment “love your neighbor” are al things we’re fully dovoted to. IN addition, early on we launched a campaign called Brilliant! and committed to taking 10% of our top line revenue & donating it to community and global partners who we think are making the world a brighter place to live. In the past few years we’ve been able to donate almost half a million dollars to organizations like Charity: Water, New Story, Pre Emptive Love Coalition, Bearings Bike Shop, Foster Care Alliance, Automotive Training Center, & Food for the Hungry. Our agents choose generosity & community first when they join our team & that is something we’re extremely proud of.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
J. Rich Atl is a boutique real estate team in Intown Atl. Our mission is “People over profit, Client over commission, Every time without condition.” The real estate industry is an antiquated & sales based business. It’s got a certain reputation & we wanted to distance ourselves from those traditional ideas by bringing a relationally based posture to our work. We value GEOcentricity which basically commits us to doing the majority of our business in the neighborhoods we live in. This allows us to bring a matchless level of credibility and experience to the management of our clients largest investment both financially & emotionally…their HOME. We believe communities need HOMES not houses & so we’re devoted to doing whatever necessary to find HOME for our clients.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1st stop…the King Center. Atlanta has a history that is globally unique being the center of the civil rights movement & there’s so much incredible history here. After we go to eh king center I love to drive down sunset ave where you can literally walk right up to MLK Jr.s family home. And do a quick tour of the historical westside that is all RICH in history. Next we’d probably hop on bikes and tour the cities unique Intown neighborhoods from little five points and Inman park to grant park and East Atlanta. Eating all along the way of course. Some of my favorite spots for a bite to eat include Superica at Krog St Market, Delias Chicken Sausage Stand, Fox Bros. BBQ & Little Five Points Pizza. I’m also a sucker for the soft serve at Big Softie in Summer Hill. Next you can’t leave Atlanta without checking out the Beltline & Ponce City Market for some souvenirs. And grab a popsicle form King of Pops while you’re there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Some of the people who have made J. Rich Atlanta what it is are my wife Callie, Chip Wallace, Weslee Knapp, & the incredible team at J. RIch ATL managed by none other than Taylor Hendrick! Also a huge shoutout to Jeff Shinabarger & Plywood People. Our business has grown dramatically due to the encouragement & resources the Plywood Community has given over the years!
