We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnny Blayz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johnny, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is from Mark Twain: ‘Find a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life.’ This really resonates with me because, as a social media manager, marketing specialist and content creator, I’ve turned my passion into my profession. Every day, I’m doing what I love—capturing moments, telling stories, and building brands. It doesn’t feel like ‘work’ because I get to create, problem-solve, and make an impact through my skills and vision. This quote is a reminder that when you’re driven by passion and purpose, the hard work becomes rewarding, not draining. It’s about loving the journey as much as the destination.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work with Ikigai Media stands out because it’s all about efficiency, empowerment, and making professional content creation accessible. I started this journey when working solo in content creation was challenging due to limited resources and the need for a full crew to accomplish projects. Today, with advancements like AI, I’m able to streamline my workflow and manage everything myself, essentially operating as a one-person team. This setup allows me to be hands-on in every part of the creative process, ensuring my clients get the highest quality service and a truly personalized experience.

I’m especially passionate about sharing my knowledge and insights with others. I’ve learned through trial and error, and I want to help others avoid the pitfalls I faced, equipping them with the skills to be more independent. By empowering people to handle certain aspects of content creation themselves, I hope to make professional media production more accessible and affordable. It’s been a journey of growth and resilience, learning to adapt and innovate through challenges. If there’s one thing I want the world to know about Ikigai Media, it’s that we’re here to support, inspire, and help people realize that, with the right knowledge and tools, so much is possible—even on your own.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As the social media manager for the East Point Convention and Visitors Bureau, I have to say East Point is the perfect destination. It’s incredibly close to the airport, and visitors quickly feel the Southern hospitality through its food, culture, and arts.

For breakfast, we’d start at Eat My Biscuits for a true Southern start to the day. Then, we’d dive into East Point’s art scene, visiting The ArtsXchange and Black Art In America, where local talent and community culture shine. In the evenings, we’d head to Rich and Pour for a taste of East Point’s nightlife with great music and atmosphere.

By the end of the week, my friend would leave with a real sense of East Point’s charm—a welcoming mix of good food, art, and lively community.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer. This book has had a profound impact on my life, not just professionally but personally as well. It delves into the importance of letting go of limitations, finding inner peace, and becoming more aware of the mind’s endless chatter—lessons that have been invaluable to me on my journey with my compamy, Ikigai Media.

As a solo entrepreneur, handling every aspect of my business can sometimes be overwhelming. The Untethered Soul reminds me to step back, release unnecessary stress, and focus on the present moment. It’s taught me how to manage my energy, embrace challenges without being consumed by them, and stay connected to my passion. This perspective has been essential in keeping my creativity alive and sustaining my drive to create meaningful work. I truly believe this book deserves recognition for shaping not just my approach to business but also my approach to life.
