Meet Johni Demeatri | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Johni Demeatri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Johni, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me, it’s definitely self-sufficiency. As an artist, you are the face of the music industry, the star. However, in most cases, the artists ends up with the shortest end of the stick if not properly represented by their record company that holds all rights to their work. By starting my own record company, I can delegate my own endeavors my way on my time. Of course it’ll take much education and growth and I’m sure it won’t be the easiest task on my list, but end the end I’ll be established independently, so I know it’s worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born with a really big gift. Throughout my life, it developed as a really big voice and an even bigger passion in my heart to sing and create my own sound. Everyday my love for music gets deeper and deeper because of how spiritually connected I am to it. My art is really just made up of my gift so it comes natural for me. But being a successful artist ain’t always easy. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to make a name for yourself. Since about 2017, I’ve been on an independent grind in the music business. I’ve had to tolerate a lot of jealousy and all around phony people who promise you the world but wouldn’t really give you a dime. I’ve been let down and lied to countless times but I never gave up because I know it’s really my gift that makes room for me. I just learned to be resilient and because I kept going, I’m still going! My brand new Ep, Final Notice is a prime example and it’s out on all music platforms!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a little out of touch when it comes to situations like this. I spend so much time in the studio making music, I’d invite my friend to join me and find away to make it a memorable experience. I’d order great food, buy drinks and show off my lil bar tending skills! I’d get them nice and tipsy and give them the most exclusive Johni Demeatri concert of their life!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are 3 people in my life right now that definitely help me kick ass as an independent artist. Without their love, support and sometimes extra push, I would not be in such a growing position right now. I would personally like to thank my producer, E Jilla Beats of The Orchestration, my PR, First Lady Chyna of My Radio Chicago and my manager, Wally of Urban Grind TV.
E Jilla Beats single handily produced my brand new EP, Final Notice which is available on all music platforms!
First Lady Chyna has helped me market and brand my leading single, Energy by sponsoring and designing my signature energy t shirt line! Artist merch currently on deck!
Wally believed enough in me to offer me management and legal representation. Also without his assistance, I could not have started my record company, Ghetto Gospel Ent or website, johnidemeatrimusic.com!
I love these people so much! I thank God for them every day!
