Meet John Mills | Master Barber/Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with John Mills and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Literally to make a positive impact on how people in our community view the black barbershop to make persons who come in the shop enjoy their atmosphere and energy leaving behind an experience of feeling built up.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I chose a creative career because it brings a peace of mind to be able to use your talents and to be paid for what you create. Those that do will appreciate it and will respect the artist. Success to me means having faith in what’s unseen and then using the faith we have to make a difference in people lives. That’s what my brand is about seeing a change in the results and to focus on the outcome with the lifestyle or the way we live also making a lot of money while being truly happy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Top golf is a great attraction for a hangout spot in the Atlanta area! I would take my friends to papadueux restaurant for seafood for entertainment or for a movie I’d take them to Cinneabistro in Brookhaven or Ipix in Midtown maybe find a show playing at the Fox theater or a live play or concert at the Cobb Engergy Center. For an up close and personal for a wine down and music I’d take them to The City Winery in Ponce City Market. We might go to a football game at the Mercedes Benz stadium or Basketball game at the State Farm Arena. There are so many places and activities to do in the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve read various secular books on business and technology however, I will say I enjoyed learning and reading “The Power of Broke” by Daymond John. I feel like I’ve lived and experienced publicly seeing him turn into the success he is today. I remember wearing his clothes in middle school and living by those words that his clothes represented.
