Meet John Carroll DeShazier | FIlm Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with John Carroll DeShazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My pursuit of an artistic career comes from being able to imagine things and situations out of thin air. I’ve always been inclined at being able to turn each and every situation in real life into a story of it’s on. It’s fun to do and also it helps me escape when I need to.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m very competitive. If I feel like I can do it better then I will attempt to create something better. That’s what really set me apart from others. I’m mostly proud of my friends. My true friends who are there not for an opportunity but to genuinely help. Getting to this point takes more than just me and it would be hard if it was just me but my friends help make it easier. There are so many lessons I’ve learned and continue learning that it’s too many to count but one lesson I’ve learned is be true to yourself. The world should know the brand of Avizon is just starting and is always open to having talented and passionate people aboard.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best time ever would be on one of our film sets. To take my best friend somewhere around town to have the best time ever though I would take them to the movie theatre to see one of my favorite films, “The Long Kiss Goodnight”. We’d eat at Tropical Flava for sure.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people I want to recognize. I’ll start with my mother who I would say kept me in check when I was younger. She guided me into the right direction even though I wasn’t always in agreement with her in those days. My close friends that truly have supported me in the past whether I was designing graphics, doing photography or me being a music artist. Those are the people that stuck by me that truly believes in me The people today that help create the films and want to be a part of them really need a big shout out because making films are fun but they can be tough and difficult to make.
