Meet John Bowling | Production Coordinator and Apartment Locator

We had the good fortune of connecting with John Bowling and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, what’s your definition for success?
As someone constantly improving my interpersonal skills, I’ve asked this question to many people. Everyone has a different answer, but typically the answers will fall within three categories: relational success, vocational success, or spiritual success. After hearing dozens of different answers from colleagues of diverse backgrounds, I have come to believe that true success can only be achieved in the absence of pride.
Without a static goal in mind, you can never achieve success, as you will always be wanting more. In my life, I have set goals that I would like to reach. If I complete these goals, I will measure myself as successful and be content. It’s important to understand that success is not a one-size-fits-all concept. Do I feel successful right now? Absolutely not, But I have a path forward, and I’m currently walking that road.
Ultimately, the path to success is as unique as the individual pursuing it, and that’s okay!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most excited about where my career is taking me! As a freelancer in the media field, I’ve had the opportunity to work both here in the U.S. and internationally. I’m very thankful for the cultures I’ve been able to observe, as well as the amazing shows I have worked on. Here at home, I’ve worked up the ranks within the media industry. When the WGA strike hit, union shows shut down in Atlanta, and most people within the industry were struggling for work (myself included). I’ve always had an interest in real estate, so I have since become an apartment locator! I’m still learning the ropes, but have been doing fairly well in my new role.
I’m curious to know how my career will twist and turn and excited to see what the future holds!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I moved here from Chicago, so our first stop would be Nancy’s Pizzeria in Midtown. They have the best Chicago deep-dish pizza in Atlanta! Living in Marietta, The Battery is a must-stop as well. Piedmont Park is a classic, and we might stop by the Botanical Gardens too. After hitting all the hot spots in the city, we could take a hike at Panther Creek Falls just north of Clarkesville.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One of the best resources I’ve ever come across is Dale Carnegie’s “How To Win Friends And Influence People”. This book, as old as it is, still holds so much relevance in today’s social economy. This book has influenced the way I approach new conversations and my daily interactions with new media crews and clients. Thanks to the teaching in this book, I’ve become a better listener and a healthier conversationalist!
