We had the good fortune of connecting with John Acosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process was to have another source of income. So infigured why not have an extra source of income involved in something I love. The imagery of hip hop and sports was fascinating to me growing up.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My media business started small attending local shows and basketball games around my area. I grew my business through hard work and good luck. A pivotal moment in my young career was the decision to sneak into Yams day 2018. Right before the show started I saw a friend who I knew was on A$AP Rockys guest list. Through the show I was able to meet artists like lil Uzi vert, PlayBoi Carti, NAV, Lil Yachty, Flatbush Zombies and of course Rocky himself. The next day my photos were all over Complex, Forbes, TMZ and countless other platforms. That day changed my life forever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A spot to eat very close for breakfast would be strathmore bagel. Another spot to eat lunch and dinner would be ocanee dinner. A hang out spot and another eatery would be Nickys on the bay. For excitement we would have to go to a concert. I’ve gone to hundreds of shows it seems at this point and I would know what artists are in town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My support system at home is everything. I have a mother, father and siblings who have always allowed me to be expressive in any Avenue I chose. They gave me the freedom to make decisions for myself and my future without any judgment or scrutiny.
