We had the good fortune of connecting with Joel Larmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joel, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I’ve had to put Quality over Quantity when it comes to a work life balance. I cherish the time I’m not working more than I ever have before. Even so, I think my balance is abnormal but good for me. I work a lot while setting aside time weekly to be around the people that gave me the reason to work hard to begin with. The common perception of “Work then play” doesn’t define my work life balance. I’d rather do both; enjoying the journey and going at my pace!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I didn’t go to school for business, nor do I have a plan to. Baar Media Production is my way of expressing one aspect of my life through film. We specialize in events, promotional videos, commercial videos, and demonstration videos. Currently, what sets us apart from everyone else is nothing. We strive to maintain the pre-existing professional standard in video production to fuel our future innovations in the media space. Our company aims to be at the forefront of integrating 3D, AR, and VR into commercial usage, redefining the concept of advertising.
The path that led me to where I am today involved honing my skills in film production and engaging in conversations with people. By sharing my vision and providing solutions and models for implementation, I was able to make progress. No, it was not easy, but it was doable. Everything is. The biggest challenge I faced was becoming self-aware of my flaws and creating an environment that fostered personal growth. To overcome these challenges, I sought help from individuals who had more knowledge in specific areas, while also continuously learning.
It’s important to understand that you can’t accomplish everything alone, and learning along the way is crucial. Building confidence can be done incrementally, such as waking up on time, which may seem insignificant at first. But these small achievements can build your confidence and strengthen your resolve, and people are naturally drawn to those who they perceive as “put-together or purposeful”. Not in an arrogant way, but in a respectful manner.
My ultimate goal is for the world to be aware of my brand. However, my story is not one of amazement but rather a realization that anyone can that anyone can do it.
Main Lesson

Continuous Learning: it’s essential to remain curious and continuously learn. Stay updated and attending conferences or workshops, and invest in personal and professional development.
