We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Dentice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever since I was young. I have always had a love for writing. Growing up, I would write short stories and poems for fun, and sometimes get them published in literally magazines that highlighted student writers. I have also always had a passion for music; I am constantly trying to find new, exciting artists and songs to listen to. After high school, I decided to not go to college. After working for years in various manual labor jobs and feeling unfulfilled, one day about three and a half years ago I decided to make a blog website and start writing about my favorite artists. It has spiraled from there, and now I spend most of my free time working on my blog or making YouTube videos talking about music. It has been an amazing journey and I have found so much joy in meshing my two passions together in a meaningful way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As I stated, the reason I started my blog is because I was feeling unfulfilled at my job in a factory. Too ok be honest, it was easy to dedicate my free time to my blog. I spend so much time looking for new music to listen to anyway, and I was happy to find a creative outlet that capitalized on my passion for music. I’ve learned that you can make time to do what you want, you just have to stay motivated and stay on task. If there’s something I would like the world to know about my blog, it’s that my love for new music is palpable in the way I write. I want others to be as excited about the music as I am.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve always thought Milwaukee is such an underrated city! People who visit the city are surprised at how much it feels like you’re living on the sea. It is tough to comprehend how big Lake Michigan is until you see it. Milwaukee is full of so much stuff to do, especially in the summer. There are great restaurants on literally every block( I would take people to get burgers at AJ Bombers or Sobelmann’s, tacos at Connejito’s, or Wings at Point’s East). There are street festivals going on almost every weekend during the summer in Milwaukee, so there is always something to do. I would also love to show a visitor some of the cool music venues we have. There are multiple music venues that are very old(The Rave, for example, has been in use for over 100 years!), and these buildings ooze culture. There are fun bars all throughout the city, but Water Street and Brady Street are the main hubs where people like to party. There is always something fun to get into in Milwaukee, and it deserves more credit than it gets.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
. The l person I would like to shout out is my mom. She has always been my biggest fan and has encouraged me to pursue my dreams. She has a love for music that is very similar to mine, and she is definitely the reason I love music so much. She is also the person who I make my YouTube videos with.
