Meet Joche’ Heard Brock | YouTuber, Content Creator & Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joche’ Heard Brock and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joche’, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been into helping other people by sharing my experiences. My YouTube channel has allowed me to share some of my most intimate life experiences and lessons while also motivating others. The growth has made me realize that I can convert some of the free content to paid opportunities, so I see it as a win win when you can do something that you love and be paid to do it!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Media Studies, and work full time using this degree in a Communications role. I am also a part time content creator along with being a wife and mother. I’ve been creating content since I was 15, if not before.
The journey was hard, I lost my mom at 16 and had to spend junior and senior year of high school applying for scholarships to pay for college because we did not have a lot of money. I knew I wanted better for my life and can credit my parents for teaching me that wealth started with mindset. Wisdom is powerful as well as creativity and putting our gifts into use. I’ve always liked helping people.
After losing my mom, I was fortunate to have a great support system in my dad, step mom, friends, teachers and school counselor (Thank you Marietta High School!) as well as a good academic record to land enough scholarships to pay my way through college. I used YouTube as a way to document my life (college experiences, plus size fashion, piercing content, weight loss journey, etc).
School was always a priority, but I had my share of distractions as I was finding myself. I found out that I was pregnant in October of my senior year, so I decided to take time off from YouTube to focus on graduating. By the Grace of God, I was able to graduate from Clayton State University on time in four years with no student loans. I graduated from CSU Magna Cum Laude (3.8 GPA) and 34 weeks pregnant! That break and season of experiences helped me remember why I was creating content in the first place. My son motivates me and so do the people that don’t know me that I’ve impacted with my advice. You never know how your experience can be inspiration for the next person. My channel now focuses on Real Talk, Lifestyle and Reviews. I still offer advice with my #AskJoche series.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m in Atlanta! There’s so many fun places here. I’d tell her to check out my Yelp account for inspiration. I’ve been reviewing there for five years and I write book long reviews. It really depends on the type of vibe she’s looking for.
For good sushi, I’d recommend Nori Nori in Sandy Springs.
For good Mexican food, Taqueria Jalisco in Douglasville.
For good vibes away from the city – Fin and Feathers Douglasville.
An affordable night out with great music – ILounge off Glenwood Ave!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank my YouTube family for showing me the power in sharing your story. I literally grew up sharing my life and after 12 years, I’ve grown a lot as a person and micro influencer. You never know which videos will reach the masses when you hit upload, so it’s good to put your best version of yourself in each one. I do this for them! I also thank my family, close friends and YouTube sisters for being cheerleaders and advocates for me on this journey.
