Meet Joanne Augustin: Copywriter & Owner of All Things Content LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joanne Augustin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joanne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always known that I wanted to own and operate my own business—I owe that to the women entrepreneurs in my life. Both my grandmother and mother owned several businesses throughout my childhood, so how they made their livelihood became a strong representation in my life. I had only been exposed to what a traditional “9-5” was when the recession hit around 2008 and my mother had no choice but to pick up a 9-5 job. Fast forward to graduating from college—the goal was always to learn under someone else’s roof—I accepted my position at a corporation with the intention of getting all the experience I can, including customer service, sales, marketing, operations, and finances. After a few different roles at different companies in different industries, in 2016, I decided that I would start to save and prepare myself to go off on my own. With over 6 years experience in content marketing at the time, through my career, I learned that roles like Copywriters & Content Strategists were well-kept secrets in Corporate America and I wanted to bring those success tools to small business owners who didn’t have that luxury. So enter All Things Content LLC, a female-owned, boutique digital marketing agency providing thoughtfully curated content solutions for small business owners. Our marketing packages are uniquely crafted to solve the day-to-day problems of a small business owner. Our team develops marketing strategies for small businesses, in addition to providing assistance with branded content, such as product and lifestyle photography, graphic design, and plug & play content calendars.
What should our readers know about your business?
I own and operate a boutique digital marketing agency providing thoughtfully curated content solutions for small business owners called All Things Content LLC. I believe what sets us apart from other marketing agencies are our core values:
💎Collaboration—we believe in the power of multiple perspectives.
💎Optimism—we believe that more can get done with a positive attitude.
💎Novelty—we believe in originality and authenticity.
💎Thoughtfulness—we believe in taking the necessary time to reflect on the best solution.
💎Expertise—we believe in leveraging skillsets.
💎Notability— we believe in being remarkable.
💎Trust—we believe in forming mutually beneficial relationships.
I am most proud of the fact that my business is female-owned and operated and my business model allows all creatives in their respective field to thrive. Many of the players on our team are independent contractors, owners of their space and expertise. You can even say that they are specially curated. Generational wealth & decreasing the racial & gender wage gaps are extremely important to me, which is why owning and operating a female-led and minority-led business is my way of contributing to the cause. I got to where I am today by leading a life of intention. I dedicated a lot of time to digging deep within myself and discovering what makes me tick and what sets my soul on fire and I pursued that feeling head on. The number one lesson that I learned is to trust the Universe and to also not confuse it. Don’t chase the shiny object or think of just short-term benefits/results when making a decision, because they are usually also very short-lived.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I’m going to preface my answer with the fact that I am the ultimate foodie, so a lot of my favorite spots in Atlanta are coffee shops and restaurants, and I am also a lover of black art & culture. If my best friend would plan to come visit me for a week, here are the places that we would have to explore! 1. Castleberry Hill, a neighborhood in Atlanta that some would argue is the new black wall street, is where over 90% of the small businesses there are black-owned. It is also home to a lot of art galleries and the Art & Design Community Center, Peters Street Station. You can check out art, eat amazing southern food, and get a custom tattoo all during a stroll on Peters Street. 2. Ponce City Market, home of “The Village Market,” a store highlighting a curated collection of premier Black brands, Five Daughters—the best doughnuts in town, and a plethora of restaurants. 3. Grant Park, a neighborhood in East Atlanta, where if you love all things homes, you’ll find beautiful craftsman bungalows and lots of amazing food spots like Ria Bluebird, Fire Pit, and Six Feet Under. 4. Oakhurst, a neighborhood in southwest Decatur, home of several local businesses like Karvana coffee shop, Revolution Doughnuts, and Mezcalito’s Cantina. 5. Piedmont Park, home of so many art and music festivals, awesome dog parks, and great trails. 6. Midtown, home to my favorite Haitian-owned restaurant, Rock Steady, serving exceptional Afro-Caribbean cuisine with style and grace.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my rock solid support system—my mother, life partner, and the women of my Creative Entrepreneurs Mastermind Group. My mother has been my number one supporter from day one—even when she didn’t quite understand my methods—she always trusted my motive and direction and I owe it all to her. My life partner has been my rock and always reminds me of who I am and why I pursue the things that I do and for him, I am forever grateful. The women in my mastermind group have always been a reliable shoulder to lean on whenever I am afraid to take a risk in my business or I just need some feedback for new ideas and strategies, and for that I am most appreciative. My support system has not only been beneficial to the advancements in my entrepreneurial career, but for my mental health, as well.
