We had the good fortune of connecting with Joanna Ng and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joanna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I never saw myself as a business owner, let alone a professional photographer. I was taking photos of my family and friends and posting them on my social media page just for fun, and it was when people outside of my family and friends started asking me to take photos that got me thinking that maybe this was something I could for a living.

What should our readers know about your business?
Photography was always a love of mine, but I had no clue how to photograph anything. I would admire photographs and pick up on the creative ways people used their lens to tell the story of people, places, and things. One day, my husband needed me to take some pictures for him at an event, and that is when my passion was birthed. The joy I felt using the camera to find those golden moments throughout the event is something I never wanted to let go of because I didn’t know how to use the equipment. I became determined to learn the technical aspects so that the vision in my head became an image that could be shared with others. Eventually, the day came where other people started to notice my passion and paid me to capture their precious moments. Not only did my knowledge and love for photography grow, but my business was born. For the past decade, I’ve captured timeless moments for individuals, couples, families, and businesses.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whenever a friend or family comes to visit, we always make our rounds to downtown Savannah. The Live Oak trees dripping with Spanish moss lining the streets is just breathtaking, and one can not help but fall in love with this city. Another must-see location would definitely be Jekyll Island. Driftwood Beach is absolutely stunning and always a favorite location for everyone. There are so many fun and amazing places to see we can’t always fit everything in. Still, one place for sure that we always fit in is visiting our favorite little restaurant located in Hinesville, Izola’s. It has the best friend, chicken, hands down, and the most amazing southern cuisine. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Steve Ng, my children, and my family. Lorrie Kennedy and Richard & Opal Hayes and my Pastor & Pastors wife, Thomas & Shanna Crutchfield.
