We had the good fortune of connecting with Jihlanni Perez-Faust and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jihlanni, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I seen a quote once that said “ He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life” and I wholeheartedly believe I would’ve accomplished any of the stuff I have if I wasn’t crazy enough to just take a risk and believe in myself no matter if nobody else did

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an Actor, Dancer, Singer and Model. My most recent credit is I got to dance in Coming to America 2 which was my first movie so that’s something I’m the most proud of right now. It hasn’t been an easy road I was in Foster Care, Adopted then emancipated. I bounced around a lot, was homeless and had to figure out a lot on my own and grow up fast and I made a lot of mistakes along the way then the Perez family I shouted out earlier took me in and allowed me to just be my age and focus on what I loved which was performing. I’m number 5 out of 6 of my biological moms kids and I’m the first to graduate high school. So I definitely want any kids that’s in foster care, or from Miami or anybody just chasing a dream when they see or hear Jihlanni they can see an example of tenacity and determination and even against all odds; you rock with the hand you’re dealt and keep pushing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It really just depends honestly I love food but I know me and my Bestfriend love chill spots and trying new places so I’m still figuring out spots but I definitely like STK and Le bilboquet like a nice dinner or Lunch spot. But if I’m just in sweats and just wanna hear some music, eat drink and chill I’ll hit up Harolds on Edgewood but I’m really open to whatever I have a pretty wide pallet for the most part

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It Definitely takes a village so I want to shoutout The Perez Family, my Dance 411 Family, 411 South Talent Agency and also Fatima Robinson and Adrian Wiltshire for taking a chance on the Kid
