We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what do you attribute your success to?
I have spent my career as a consultant in client services so finding creative solutions to my customers problems has always been something that I not only crafted a skill for over time but also something I have a deep passion for. What resonates with our customers about the Yellow brand is what it represents. Our company name Yellow actually stems from what the color itself symbolizes; feelings of optimism, cheerfulness, and joy. This is what our product strives to do for our end users – we just want to make it easier to live better, happier, more fulfilled lives and we realize that in today’s world that isn’t necessarily always the easiest.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a start up we have the ability to move quickly and remain agile which is a huge superpower, especially when it comes to being able to deliver a tailored and high quality customer experience.

In my opinion, Yellow is a crucial solution for the future of work and creating not only a healthy workplace culture, but highly functioning teams as well.

Our platform offers educational team health challenges. Employees work together through 4-week long educational initiatives that highlight and promote critical areas of well-being. So far feedback has been that employees are having fun and building camaraderie. Our topic catalog is extensive, but so far our most popular are mental and financial well-being themes. Employers also love the fact that we can fully customize the experience as to promote specific benefits & programs that they already offer employees but that are not seeing good engagement.

The other way in which we are unique is our pricing structure. Throughout my career I heard so much criticism from employers around PEPM pricing and annual contracts that lock employers in for a year or more. Due to this feedback we decided we wanted our pricing model to only charge for the employees who actually use and participate in the programs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite nearby places to explore is the North Georgia mountains. It’s an incredibly tranquil place and super family friendly (key these days with two kids under 3.5!). There’s a lot of quaint small towns that have a ton of character & charm. My favorite coffee shop with a view is Jumpingoat Coffee Roasters in Cleveland. Our family also loves to visit Unicoi State Park and take a picnic, the waterfall hike is an easy and fun one 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are truly so many people I could name here! For the sake of brevity, I will choose just a couple of groups that really sum up the support our company received this year. In January I was accepted into the Atlanta Tech Village pre-accelerator program “It Takes a Village”. It was a 16-week crash course complete with informational seminars and mentorship. I learned a ton and most importantly gained some really great mentors and friends as a result of the program. I’m still a member of ATV and am so incredibly grateful for the entire community over there! It’s definitely a game changer to have this support as an entrepreneur.
I’m also so grateful for my teammates, none of Yellow’s success would be possible without them, huge shoutout to Cherie Lum, Ashton Thomas, and Sarah Smith!
