Meet Jessica Pittman: Fashion Blog Curator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Pittman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve had a knack for entrepreneurship ever since I was young. I’ve tried many a side hustle but unfortunately, none of them stuck until Peerless Magazine. In 2019, I had just started to deeply explore my interest in fashion and Instagram was my most popular source of inspiration. However, I noticed that a lot of popular fashion pages did not feature people of color and repeatedly recycled features from the same influencers. I remember wishing that I would find a page that had these qualities but after a month of searching, I never did. So one day, I decided to take matters into my own hands and start my own fashion blog. I had no expectations whatsoever diving into it – I didn’t expect tons of followers or people to tag me in posts. I simply wanted to post everyday people that I thought had nice outfits – outfits I could look at for inspiration before I got dressed. It was truly a saved bookmark collection, but public for everyone to see!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of Peerless Magazine’s organic growth. As long as the page has been up, I have never used paid promotions to further page engagement or interaction. Everything has been built from the ground up. I think that’s hard to find nowadays in the social media world. This whole experience has also been very eye-opening. You never think about how much work goes into being an influencer. It’s hard sometimes but it also be rewarding as well. I’ve inspired thousands of people to explore who they are on the outside with their own personal style and that’s my favorite part. The hardest task I’ve taken on so far is launching my brand’s own merchandise. There’s been a lot of sleepless nights, but I’m so grateful for the opportunity. Please take the chance to check out our website and shop the new Peerless Magazine merch to help support the page!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I currently live in North Georgia, about 30-40 minutes from Downtown Atlanta depending on the location so I’m not sure where all the cool spots are in Atlanta yet. My friends and I are definitely taking the time to explore the city this year though after being locked up in the house due to Covid-19. I’m excited to see what’s out there. I should be asking y’all! However, I do know that Krog Street has some amazing food options all in one place. It’s great if you and your travel partner are craving different types of foods.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All the glory goes to God for my success. The concept of Peerless Magazine came when I was at a low point and Peerless Magazine not only gave me purpose again but motivated me to keep going after my dreams. If I could start a viral blog out of absolutely nothing, I could do anything my heart set on. After starting Peerless, I landed a position in my dream career. Now, I manage both with His help.
