We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica McIntee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance is more than important. When I first opened my business I did not have the best balance. I can honestly say that has changed. I keep myself balanced by doing yoga, meditating and investing in self care. I also spend a great amount of time with my family and friends.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Natural Hair Academy is a program geared towards training individuals and helping those who would like to advance their styling knowledge and career. What sets us apart from a usual beauty program is our focus on protective styling and natural hair maintenance. I am most excited about our courses that are full of beneficial classes.
As an entrepreneur, I have learned a lot along the way. Recently, with my brother’s passing, I have learned to take every aspect of my life and business in steps. I have also learned how to remain balanced and fully enjoy my time.
Looking at my business, I am more than happy because I put in the work to get to where I am. By the grace of God, I have overcome many mental and financial challenges.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my opinion, some of the best places to check out in or near Atlanta are:
Atlanta Botanical Garden
Ponce City Market
Fern Bank Science Center
BQE Lounge
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shout out to all of my family, friends and mentors. I especially would like to acknowledge my brother, Hebron Tate, Jr., who just recently passed.
