We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Brooklyn, NY. My background and upbringing impacted me

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started singing in the church but I’ve always listened to other types of music which helped mold and shape my sound. I am grateful and honored that I finally stepped out on faith and began to pursue my solo career. It wasn’t easy and I had a lot of challenges. Many disappointments and setbacks almost made me give it all up but I am thankful for the Godly foundation, the support of my family, friends and much prayer that kept me rooted, grounded and focused on my purpose.

I am most proud that I have the opportunity to do what I love and share it with others. I’ve learned on this journey to be my authentic self, remain humble, remain prayerful and always seek God for everything. My desire is to capture the heart of God’s people, share his love and His message wherever I go. I want God’s message to uplift, inspire and encourage people across the world. It gets hard sometimes but the beauty about God is that he will never leave us. To know or hear me is to know that I am anointed, appointed and called for this great commission. And like so many other great artists and singers, I just want to be a part of the movement that is spreading the message that everyone needs to hear.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a little bit of a homebody but if I know I have friends in town, I would probably team up with other family or friends who know some of the hottest spots and we go visit some of those places. But I will say, living in the New York City, I love going to some of the historic places that have an awesome view like our Brooklyn Promenade, Dumbo/Clinton Hill area in Brooklyn of course Time Square. Time Square is the best place for great food and entertainment. I would probably also take them to see the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY where you can see some of the most iconic artists and bands whoever played or sung there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give thanks to my parents for the foundation that was laid before me, for giving me life and for the greatest gift of all Jesus Christ, I thank you and love you. To my strong pillars aka my siblings and their families, my love for you all is unconditional. Thank you for your love and support. To my church family, my Manager and sister, Tanashia, I truly thank you of your help. Excited to continue this journey with you. To all of my close friends and family, to each and every church and ministry that I’ve been blessed to ministered at, I pray God’s blessings upon and thank you for allowing me to bless you.
