We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

Graduating with my Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy, I’ve always loved to help others and give advice since I could remember. However, I started my business because I knew that there was deeper healing than traditional therapy could provide. No shade at all towards standard therapy, because I actually believe that everyone needs therapy, but I’ve always been the type of person that wanted to help myself and others on the deepest level of healing. After realizing that standard therapy wasn’t meeting that level of healing for my clients that I desire, I started to look into inner child healing. For me, majority of trauma and limiting beliefs start in childhood, so I took a great interest in it and helped my clients dive deep into their childhood traumas and origins of the beliefs that were holding them back in life. This is also when I created my five star Healing Your Inner Child Workshop in 2017, and still facilitate it to this day.
Pair this with my passion for law of attraction and subconscious mind healing, I eventually became a RTT (Rapid Transformational Therapist) Hypnotherapist in 2020, where I felt like it was the perfect marriage between inner child healing and subconscious mind healing. Since starting my business in 2020, I have done well over 500 RTT hypnosis sessions to help people overcome childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, business blocks, health issues, and much more in just one or two hypnosis sessions! My true passion is helping as many folks as possible release and heal from years of stuck trauma that they don’t even realize is holding them back from being able to step into their future boldly, confidently, and with new empowering beliefs that can support their goals and desires for life. Afterall, our subconscious mind runs 95% of our life, and we don’t know what all is buried in there until we get to see first hand with a hypnosis session.

What should our readers know about your business?

My business was originally started with Black and Brown people in mind, as so often we are deprived of or have limited access to these unique and luxurious services. My business mainly serves Black women between the ages of 30 and 60 years old, and I feel it’s such a honor to help my clients release deep stored trauma that they thought was never even possible. What sets my business apart from other hypnotherapist and mindset experts is by far my angelic, big smile, and warm hearted personality and energy. If you ask the average person that has come in contact with me, they will tell you that, “It’s something about her spirit that makes me feel so comfortable and trusting.” Shoutout to God for creating me this way, and shoutout to myself for stepping into the calling. I’m so proud and glad that I get to help people on this deep level. They say that “the therapist makes the therapy,” therefore I am so grateful that I get to infused my unique personality into my therapy practice for all my clients to experience.

I got to where I’m at today in my business because I started off as my first client lol.. I knew I had a lot of childhood trauma that I needed healing from, and so when I began to heal, go to therapy, do inner child work and much more, God instructed me to share my healing journey with others via social media starting about 10 years ago, so that’s what I did. And of course when you show up not only vulnerable, but also educating the people, it creates one hell of a recipe for people to gravitate towards you and triggers their own self discovery journey as well.
Social media has indeed made growing my business easier than not, but as I continue to grow my business and enter into corporate spaces, I definitely have to put in more work. I have gotten so many no’s (even when I just KNEW they would be yes’s), and I would say that I simply overcame these challenges by never giving up. Even if I had to take a detour or a break, I still knew my course and stayed true to it. I also overcome these challenges by always consulting with God first, and the longer I’m in my business, the more I go to God for the smallest of things. I believe people can save a lot of time, money, and heartache by simply consulting with their Higher Power before they do anything else.

I would want the world to know that healing IS possible! That you don’t ever have to succumb to past traumas or the feeling of not being good enough. That rewiring your subconscious mind in order to have new and empowering self beliefs is totally possible if you believe in invest in yourself. I would always want to be remembered by being the person that has such a bright light and unforgettable energy, and that anytime you leave my presence, you will leave a better version of yourself in which you came.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If my friend were to visit my city of Indianapolis, IN, I would first take them to all my favorite vegan food spots. Not only am I mostly plant-based and a huge foodie, but I believe that GOOD vegan food is such an art form, and we have so many good vegan food spots in the city that I would want the to try them all!

I’m also a big nature lover, and so my favorite parks, hiking trails, and lakes would be on the list to show my visitor for sure.

Lastly, I just love gathering with my Black and Brown brothers and sisters, and while Indy has majority White population, the Melanated events definitely be on and poppin’ in the summer time. I would take them to some of those events, such as an open mic, Black Joy fest, weekly rooftop parties, Black Expo, Sunday Funday at the winery, First Fridays, and much more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I would like to first and foremost shoutout my mother who always saw something special in me and continuously roots for me till this day. I felt like she fostered so much of my confidence by always telling me how “highly blessed and favored” that I am. I love you, mommy.
I also wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for some of my favorite tv mindset mentors (lol) such as Lisa Nichols, Tony Robinson, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, Wayne Dyer, and Joe Vitale just to name a few.
Last but not least, I would love to shoutout my hometown, Indianapolis, IN, aka Nap Town! Majority of my business has come from the local community there, and without them, my business and brand would be non-existence. I love you Nap Town!
